Thank You for Santa Day
Fenelon Falls hosts another successful day for all

A huge thank you to all who helped in ways large and small to pull together another magical Santa Day. The streets were filled with smiling faces and the warmer temperature made being outside perfectly lovely; it was just the right temperature to get cozy with a cup of free hot chocolate in your hand.

To each and every volunteer, business owner, resident, visitor, supporter, entertainer and animal - A BIG THANK YOU TO YOU!

Congrats to the parade float winners!

Thank you to everyone who entered floats in this year's parade. The floats were amazing and the judges took a long time making their decisions. The winners are:

First Place: Tow All Inc.

Second Place: New Day Environmental

Third Place: That Place On Cameron

Fenelon Got the Museum Covered
Maryboro Lodge overwhelmed with request for help

The Museum was looking for clean old sheets and blankets to help cover up furniture and cabinets for the winter. They sent out the SOS to their community partners and asked for help. Maryboro Lodge needed as many as they could get.

Soon after, they had received what they needed and then some. "On behalf of the Board of Directors and the staff of Maryboro Lodge - The Fenelon Museum, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you who reached out to get
sheets and blankets for the museum’s collection." said Bev Jeeves, Manager of Maryboro Lodge, "The response was overwhelming and we are indeed very grateful to this community of Fenelon Falls for all of your help. It’s amazing what we can accomplish, when we’re in it together!”

Happy Holidays!

Fenelon Falls named one of Canada’s favourite small towns

bragging rights definitely apply

KAWARTHA 411 - Expedia has polled 1,000 Canadians to nominate their favourite small towns and Fenelon Falls was one of the top choices.

The write up calls Fenelon a “hidden gem that apparently isn’t as hidden as one may think, considering it’s in the top 10 most popular small towns in Canada.”

It goes on to say “But it’s no surprise that once people visit Fenelon Falls, they can’t stop talking about it. This is where you’ll find a mix of beach areas, waterfalls, and a sense of history that gives this place a certain glow.”...

An Artfully New Concept at curious?
December 9th Co-Creative Event

Things are happening at “curious?” once again.  After being named one of the top ten things to do in Fenelon Falls by Kawartha Northumberland, “curious?” has jumped in with a new concept.  “Co-Creative” is a community creative initiative which showcases and promotes local artists and artisans. A bit like a “pop up shop” with a unique and creative twist. Artists will be on site to meet and greet the public, discuss & sell their art and generally show off the amazing talent in our community.

The first Arts event happens on December 9th at “curious?” 10-B Water St in Fenelon Falls.  Doors will open at 10am and the event will continue until 8pm.  Refreshments will be provided in the form of teas, coffee, punch and some delectable goodies to munch on.

We encourage everyone to come out and show your support for our local artists.  Whether you are looking to purchase art, meet the artist or just want to experience a unique outing surrounded by beautiful things “curious?’ is the place to be on December 9th...

Fountain Removed To Make Space
Fenelon Marquee site prepped for installation

The Fenelon Marquee is one step closer to its new home! Earlier this month the prep work required to make the area outside the Chamber office ready for the next phase of the project was completed. The stone fountain was removed and the concrete below ground level was dug out. The hole has been filled in for the winter while fundraising continues. Plans are to have the finished sign erected next year.

The Fenelon Theatre Marquee Group have partnered with local Fenelon Falls resident Cy Allen's Pineridge Landscaping to get started on prepping the location for the resurrection of the Fenelon Theatre Marquee. On November 20th, 2017, Cy Allen started to remove the old fountain from the location at the corner of May St. and Water / Oak Streets. The site has been cleared and is prepped for construction of the cement base, which is scheduled to commence in the spring / summer of 2018. Thanks to Scott Young Landscaping as well for lending Cy a helping hand.

The Fenelon Marquee Group will be accepting donations and selling t-shirts and sweats at the Barn and Bunkie Holiday Show this December 3rd. Stop by and say hello!

Making a Will
another thing to add to the list

Do you ever turn on the radio and hear that it is “National __________ Day” and think to yourself – do we have a day / week / month for everything? If you said yes, you are not alone and like myself, you have likely also thought – WHY do we have a day for that?

Well as I listened to CBC the other day, it was brought to my attention that November was “Make a Will" month and I had those very thoughts. Later on, I reflected on the fact that I was thinking about my will, something that like many Canadians, I try to avoid considering for obvious reasons and it dawned on me that without that notice I would likely not be pondering this necessity...
