STOP partisan gerrymandering

SIGN ON: Put a Stop to Partisan Gerrymandering NOW →

Across the country, politicians redraw the boundaries of voting districts in backroom deals to give themselves a safe cushion in upcoming elections.

That’s not just unfair, it corrodes the democratic nature of our government.

We need to stop this. Add your name to support fair and transparent redistricting in every state:

Friends, there's no question partisan gerrymandering is corrupting our elections.

Right now, politicians are abusing their power by redrawing district maps to give their political party disproportional power.

Very few states have independent redistricting, meaning that for most states, this process is driven by a partisan agenda and lacks transparency.

That’s why we’re calling for long-overdue and much-needed redistricting reform so we can finally ensure the fairness of our elections.

Here are a few examples of partisan gerrymandering:

Florida: A Circuit Court judge ruled that Republican-drawn district maps unfairly tried to protect GOP incumbents. Unsurprisingly, the judge found that these new districts were improperly influenced by Republican political consultants.

The judge then recommended Florida’s Supreme Court to disregard the Republican-led state government’s clearly biased gerrymandering, and come up with a fair solution.

Pennsylvania: In 2012, Democrats won 51% of total votes cast for the House of Representatives -- but won only 5 out of 18 House races.

How’s that possible? Because of districts shaped like the one below.[1]

These absurdly-shaped districts are designed to group minority and low-income voters in a single district so as to ensure Republican victories in neighboring districts.

Friends, gerrymandering is antithetical to our democratic values of fairness, equal opportunity, and transparency. We cannot sit back and let politicians protect themselves by corrupting our democracy.

Sign your name to support IMMEDIATE redistricting reform so we can ensure our elections are conducted by the people and for the people:

Thanks for standing up for democracy,
