stark-tourSenior citizens 65 and older are invited to take a tour of Janie Stark Elementary School.

Monday, October 17
from 9am – 11am.

Meet at the Farmers Branch Senior Center in the craft room. We will load a bus and head to Janie Stark to tour classrooms and speak with students and teachers.

Join us for this fun morning where you can see the smiling faces of our city’s bright future.

Community Wide Spirit Night at Vivian Field MS

spirit-nightThe CFBISD community is invited to attend Spirit Night at the Vivian Field Middle School football field.  Admission is free for all who attend.  The fun will being at 6:30pm with a pep rally followed by an outdoor movie.  Bring the family to watch the movie “Inside Out” under the stars.  The movie will begin at 8pm.  Concessions will be available for purchase.

Rosemeade Elementary is Named One of the Best in the Nation

U.S. Secretary of Education, John B. King, Jr., announced today that Rosemeade Elementary has been named a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School. Rosemeade is one among 279 public and 50 private schools receiving this honor. Only 29 schools in Texas received this honor.

Schools are nominated for the award by the state department of education, and then complete a comprehensive application about school practices. Schools may apply for status as Exemplary High Performing-among the top schools in a state-or Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing-schools making the fastest progress in the their state in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.

Principal Amy Miller will represent Rosemeade at a two-day awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., to celebrate their hard-won achievements.

R. L. Turner Choir Students Advance to Region

Sheffield Parent Wows the School with His 2016 Gold Medal from Rio

Kyle Clemons, a Sheffield parent, spoke to students about his experiences in Track and Field. Clemons won the gold medal in the 400×4 Meter Relay.

Davis Elementary Makes the News with their Innovative Mindfulness Techniques

davisThe Dallas Morning News has written an article about Davis Elementary’s self regulation strategy.  Glitter jars and breathing balls are among several mindfulness techniques that have been implemented within the past three years. Lisa Williams, the school’s principal, said she became interested in self-regulation after reading several articles on the subject.

Creekview Student Represented CFBISD at Science and Technology Conference

hannahCreekview 10th grade student Hannah Hinojosa represented Creekview and the state of Texas at the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders in Boston, Massachusetts this summer. This conference is part of The National Leadership Academies and has Nobel Prize winners, former astronauts, United States Surgeon Generals and other prominent names in the technology and scientific community presenting and leading sessions.

We are very proud of her as she represented herself, Creekview, and the state of Texas so very well!

Ranchview Teacher Has Poem Selected for McKinney Art Festival

Congratulations to Ranchview Teacher, Dr. Leslie Cappiello, for having her poems “Night Fire” accepted for the McKinney Arts in Bloom Festival on October 8th.  An artist will be painting an interpretation of the poem for display at the festival.  Congratulations Dr. Cappiello.

Arts in Bloom

  • When: April 8, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Where: Historic Downtown McKinney

Local and regional artists come out to play in downtown McKinney. We invite you to experience art in all forms as creative fortes blossom throughout the Historic District. This all-day event is a perfect opportunity to experience the magic of McKinney’s historic shopping district during the spring season with art, music, food and much, much more.
