Dear reader,

People often disagree about education issues. But we can find common ground on this: This country has not succeeded at giving every child an equal shot at a good education. As journalists, we at Chalkbeat don’t promote one solution or another. We do believe, though, that change is only possible with an informed public. To give you the information you need, we need your help.

More than 150 readers like you already have stepped up to support Chalkbeat in our end-of-year fundraising campaign, bringing us more than halfway toward our goal of $20,000. To reach that goal, though, we need 50 more! Can we count on you?

If you value Chalkbeat's work, we urge you to consider giving a tax-deductible gift of $8 a month. Prefer to give a one-time donation? We appreciate those, too. Big, small, one-time or monthly — your support means that we can continue to round up your daily dose of education news must-reads, as well as the in-depth education reporting our community deserves. Plus, you'll get a cool tote bag!

Want to support Chalkbeat's work in other ways? Here are some additional ways to help:

  1. Join the #WhyIChalkbeat conversation on Facebook and Twitter

  2. Share our campaign with your networks. Word of mouth (or word of email) is the best way for us to reach new readers who want a quality education news source.

Thanks again for following our work. We couldn't do it without you.

All the best,
Sarah Darville, bureau chief
