For those familiar with New York City schools, last night's Democratic National Convention might have yielded a familiar face. Eagle Academy President and CEO David Banks took the stage to support Hillary Clinton, who has long been a champion of the network that serves mainly young men of color from low-income communities.

"I'm with Hillary Clinton because she has been with us," Banks said.

At Chalkbeat, we followed one Eagle Academy senior through his college application process this year. Take a look at how Jamal Trotman's senior year unfolded here, here and here.

His story highlights the difficulties that many students face when applying to college. But ultimately, with help from his school, Trotman's story is one of good news. He's headed to Morehouse in the fall.
