Rise & Shine: In a rare move, the UFT files a complaint against a KIPP charter school

Good morning! The United Federation of Teachers took an unusual step this week of filing a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board against a KIPP charter school in the Bronx. The dispute appears to center around whether the union's contract with the city applies to the school, which was converted from a traditional district school years ago.

Also, read about concerns that Gov. Cuomo's budget does not do enough to fund lower-income school districts, whether Trump's ed secretary pick Betsy DeVos can dramatically reshape education policy, and one guidance counselor's argument against the myth that anyone can do the job alone.
