Rise & Shine: New York City will significantly expand 'community schools' program

Good morning! The city is doubling down on its signature education initiatives. First, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced "3-K for All." Now, he says the city will expand its "community schools" initiative, which infuses schools with extra resources.

While the mayor revealed the "community schools" expansion, he also seemed to temper expectations for an upcoming plan to tackle school segregation, saying it would not "instantly wipe away 400 years of American history."

Finally, is your kid complaining about waking up early for school? They might be right, new research shows.
