Cheese and History:
A Taste of the Balkans

A Colebrook Historical Society Friday Night Gathering

I was at a talk Babs Perkins gave at the Norfolk Library on her photo work documenting vanishing traditional food production methods and it was really good. It was like TED talk, well done.  Please consider attending this Friday night.  - Eric.

On Friday, August 12, at 7:00 PM, the Colebrook Historical Society will host a social gathering with refreshments and lively conversation.  Highlighting the evening will be a presentation by our special guest, Babs Perkins.  Ms. Perkins is a photographer and writer from Norfolk, CT.  Her work focuses on cultural documentation and preservation.  Over the last several years, Babs has been researching and documenting traditional food producers of the Balkans – including farmers, shepherds, beekeepers, and cheese makers.  Babs will talk about her ongoing travels in Bosnia and Serbia, in search of those who still produce cheese the old fashioned way.  She’ll share her images along with fascinating stories of the people, places, and products she’s discovered.  The Gathering will be held at the home of the CHS, the historic Seymour Inn – the corner of Routes 183 and 182A in the center of Colebrook.  All are most welcome.
