Win tix for this weekend in our Instagram contest

The DC Improv

1140 Connecticut Ave. NW, WDC 20036

Spoiler alert: Finesse Mitchell is Kylo Ren.

Win Finesse Mitchell tickets: The DC Improv is stepping up its Instagram game, and this week we're running a caption contest. Go check out our Instagram feed and post your funny caption by commenting on the Star Wars-themed contest pic. On the afternoon of 12/16, we'll announce the winner, who gets two tickets to the Finesse Mitchell show of their choosing.

Holiday shopping: We're in the home stretch for holiday shopping. If you need a winner of a gift idea, the DC Improv offers gift cards in whatever amount you want. The cards can be used to buy tickets, food and drink in the showroom, or tuition for a comedy class - so the lucky recipient can put together the comedy experience of their choosing. Get the orders to us this week, and we'll get the cards in mail as soon as we possibly can.

Stand-up grad show (Tuesday): If you're looking to laugh tonight (12/15), grads of our latest "Five Minutes to Funny" stand-up class take the stage starting at 7:30. Tickets are $10.

Freestyle Funny (Wednesday): You got to get over the hump, and we've got four guys who will carry you toward the weekend. The Freestyle Funnny Comedy Show features four outstanding comics, three of whom are currently featured on "Wild 'N Out." The show is a mix of stand-up, crowd games and urban improv. We had them here in June and they sold out, so we're doing TWO shows this Wednesday - one at 7 and one at 9:30. Tickets are $20. With Brian “B Daht” McLaughlin, Anthony “Chico” Bean, Darren “Big Baby” Brand, and Demar “Osama Bin Drankin” Rankin.

New Shows: Trivia night (1/7), open mic night (1/21), Make Up Party (1/22)

Finesse Mitchell

Finesse Mitchell

December 17-20 (Th-Su) Originally from Atlanta, Finesse got noticed as a promising young stand-up and landed a spot on "Saturday Night Live." That led to a bunch of TV and movie roles -- but he still shines bright in front of live audiences. See for yourself as he makes his DC Improv headlining debut this weekend!

If that's not enough to convince you, how about this: Finesse played college football with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and his father-in-law is El Debarge. Admit it, you want to know if there's any juicy insider stories about "The Last Dragon." Don't fight it.

Tickets: $17 Thursday/Sunday, $20 Friday/Saturday

Erin Jackson

Erin Jackson

December 26-27 (Sa-Su) For many people, the week between Christmas and New Year's is dead space filled with gift returns, housecleaning and whatever the hell Boxing Day is (sorry, Canada). This year, just keep on celebrating stuff. Even better, celebrate in style by coming to see Erin Jackson.

Erin started her comedy career in DC (at the Improv!), and her charming style soon made her one of the city's favorites. She landed a stand-up appearance on "Ellen," competed on "Last Comic Standing" and started touring the country. Lately, she's been co-hosting a panel talk show on the ASPiRE network while continuing to entertain live audiences all over the place. The holidays are when you catch up with old friends -- and we're thrilled to have one of the club's best friends in town to entertain you and your friends.

Tickets: $20 Saturday, $17 Sunday

Sheryl Underwood

Sheryl Underwood

January 8-9 (Fr-Sa) One of the hardest-working women in showbusiness, Sheryl made her first appearance at the DC Improv in the 1990s. Since that time, she has built a media empire. Sheryl co-hosts "The Talk," a daily panel show on CBS. She's a regular on the Steve Harvey Morning Show and hosts Sheryl Underwood Radio. And she's also the CEO of Pack Rat Productions. On stage, Sheryl continues to push the envelope: Her show is a no-holds-barred look at romance, politics, current events and relationships. Our annual visits from Sheryl always feature a lot of sold out shows, so plan ahead ...

Tickets: $30 all shows (three shows each night)

John Heffron

John Heffron

January 14-17 (Th-Su) John is a comic who keeps on growing. Since winning "Last Comic Standing" in 2004, the Detroit native has been stockpiling experiences as a husband, a stepdad and an all-around regular guy. While figuring life out, he brings audiences along with him. All those experiences get spun into comedy gold. When it comes to middle-class, blue-collar comedy, John is one of the best performers out there.

And for all you "Last Comic Standing" fans, don't forget: We've got two more champs heading our way in the spring. The 2015 winner, Clayton English, headlines March 31 - April 3. The 2014 winner, Rod Man, headlines April 15-17.

Tickets: $17 Thursday/Sunday, $20 Friday/Saturday

Christian Finnegan

Christian Finnegan

February 11-14 (Th-Su) (Two shows on Valentine's Day.) Christian is a pioneer of the “talking head” show, a sitcom actor, a Twitter all-star and one of our favorite stand-ups. (He even recorded an album right here at the club.) He puts on a sharp, original show. And we promise you, that show is a far better gift for Valentine’s weekend than whatever you were originally planning. Jewelry eventually gets pawned to cover gambling debts, but memories of a comedy show last forever.

Even if you don't have a significant other right now, remember that confidence is sexy. Snag some tickets now and just BELIEVE that you'll have a date.

Tickets: $17 Thursday/Sunday, $20 Friday/Saturday

Pablo Francisco

Pablo Francisco

March 17-20 (Th-Su) Pablo can sweat more in a 45-minute comedy set than some rock bands do in a whole tour. His performances even have a rock-show vibe. When Pablo is on our stage, there are always die-hard fans in the room, ready to hear the hits.

And at this point, Pablo has a huge collection of hits. He has a gift for creating and imitating characters and voices -- he can shift seamlessly into celebrity impressions, recreate all the sights and sounds of a nightclub, or act out a movie trailer all by himself. His energetic and animated performances have been praised all around the world, and he continues to tour for his fans.

Tickets: $30 all shows
