Hey comedy fans,

We don't usually e-mail you two weeks in a row, but we're making sure that all ticket holders for this weekend know about the changes caused by the big storm. Also, we added a bunch of headliners to the schedule (including DC Improv debuts from Ms. Pat and Dominique!) so we're gonna include that news below. Hey, it gives you something to read when you're trapped inside on Saturday.

Here's the quick rundown for this weekend:

1) Open mic is on for TONIGHT (Thursday). Free admission as long as seats are available.

2) Snow Party 2016 is on Friday at 7:30. $10 showcase with top-notch local comics.

3) Tom Papa shows (January 22-24) and all weekend lounge shows have been rescheduled. Tom will now be here in April. If you already bought a ticket for Tom and you need us to walk you through your options, give us a phone call.

NEW SHOWS: Snow Party (1/22), Ms. Pat (2/18), Dominique (3/24), Michael Blackson (5/26)

RESCHEDULED SHOWS: ComedySportz events (2/20), Tom Papa (4/7), Big Jay Oakerson (5/12)

Snow Party 2016

Snow Party

January 22 (F) The storm's a comin' -- but before we're all in the deep freeze, the Improv is having a snow party. We've got seven top-notch local comics on board: Rahmein Mostafavi, Hillary Scofield, Benjy Himmelfarb, Dana Fleitman, Elahe Izadi, Kasaun Wilson and Danny Rouhier. The show starts at 7:30 and the tickets are just $10 -- you can come in, stock up on laughs and be on your merry way around 9:15.

If you're in the city, this might be your last best hope for weekend entertainment -- remember, we're less than a block from the Farragut North Metro. So if underground trains are running, it's a short hop to the Improv. PARTY!

Tickets: Just $10. C'mon, you know you wanna.

Tony Rock

January 28-31 (Th-Su) Please note Tony's Saturday shows are already sold out!

Tony can do it all. He’s been in front of the camera and behind the camera. He has shown his skills as a host and a headliner. Lately, Tony has been running the show on the revamped “Apollo Live” while also taking his stand-up on the road. And his “40 Rock” web series take you behind the scenes at “All Def Comedy Live,” the weekly live standup showcase that Tony hosts for legendary producer Russell Simmons.

Ms. Pat

Ms. Pat

February 18-21 (Th-Su) We has some schedule shuffling last week. Don't worry about the details, just the results: In one month, we are now presenting the DC Improv debut of Ms. Pat!

Ms. Pat is truly amazing. She had a rough childhood in Atlanta -- in her teens, she was a drug-dealing mother of two, and in her 20s she was raising six kids (including four of her sister's). A welfare case worker was wowed by the stories from Pat's life and encouraged her to share them on stage. She hopped up at an open mic and has never looked back. Pat has been on "Last Comic Standing," she's a favorite guest on the biggest comedy podcasts (like WTF with Marc Maron) and now she's a touring headliner.

They say that real-life stories are the funniest -- find out for yourself when Pat comes to town.

Tickets: $15 Thursday/Sunday, $17 Friday/Saturday

March 24-26 (Th-Sa) Last weekend, Dominique lit up the stage at the Warner as part of the big "Corey Holcomb and Friends" show. This March, you can come to the Improv to see what she can do as a headliner.

Dominique got her start right here in DC. Back in the day, she worked night shifts at Washington’s Brentwood mail facility -- but she got a little bored with the job and decided to give comedy a try. The rest is history. Great sets at DC open mics led to TV appearances, national tours and gigs alongside greats like Chris Rock and Tracy Morgan. She's a regular on the Tom Joyner Morning Show. And now she’s back where it all began, taking over the DC Improv to kick off the spring!

Tickets: $17 Thursday/Sunday, $20 Friday/Saturday

Tom Papa

Tom Papa

April 7-9 (Th-Sa) These are the rescheduled shows. (Screw you, Jonas.) If you had tickets for Tom in January, you already have a seat saved for April -- check your e-mail for details or call us and we'll walk you through your options.

Tom’s a master of observational comedy, laying out his side of the story with a mix of exasperation and amusement. (Consider the company he keeps -- he's one of Jerry Seinfeld's favorite touring partners.) Respected by people throughout the entertainment industry – everyone from Steven Soderbergh to Rob Zombie is a fan – he has landed gigs as an actor and a game show host. He’s also in charge of “Come to Papa,” a podcast and radio program that features top-notch comedic and celebrity guests.

Tickets: $20 all shows

Big Jay Oakerson

May 12-15 (Th-Su) One of the only drawbacks of putting truly awesome comedians on the schedule is that they're in high demand. We had Big Jay coming in February, but Comedy Central demanded that he record a comedy special that weekend.

So now you get Big Jay in mid-May. Jay is known for fantastic crowd work and some of the most brilliant original dirty jokes. He's a podcasting master, and he also has a live satellite radio show called “The Bonfire.” We loved having him here in 2015, and he's definitely on the rise. If you like a raunchy good time, these shows are worth checking out.

Tickets: $15 Thursday/Sunday, $17 Friday/Saturday

Michael Blackson

May 26-29 (Th-Su) Special event! We've had Michael a few years in a row, and every show has been sold out. “The African King of Comedy” was born in Ghana, got his start in the comedy clubs of Philadelphia, and became a breakout star thanks to his performance in “Next Friday.” His sketch comedy and stand-up routines have been crushing audiences for years. Find out what thousands and thousands of comedy fans already know: Comedy is better in a dashiki.
