Going up to 87 degrees today! And it was snowing earlier this month. Clearly, this is a sign of the End of the World, so you should probably squeeze in as many laughs as you can, quickly. We're open for shows Tuesday through Saturday this week, with admission prices ranging from free (Thursday's open mic) to $25 (Nikki Glaser).

Freestyle Funny TONIGHT (4/26):  You could be having a LOT more fun on Tuesdays, and the time to start is now. The Freestyle Funny Comedy Show is back in town, and it features four guys doing stand-up, crowd games and improv. (Three of the guys are cast members on "Wild 'N Out.") Tickets are $20.

New Shows: ComedySportz Improv (6/4), Late Night Improv (6/4), ComedySportz for Kids (6/4), Red Grant (9/9), Dave Attell (9/16)

New Podcasts: Ian Bagg headlines May 5-8, and this week we posted a 25-minute interview with him. Our search for the funniest president continues this week with maybe the best laugher: William Howard Taft. Also, with Obama set to do his last WHCA dinner this weekend, you might want to check out our podcast on his sense of humor.

T-Shirt Design Competition:  Some things about the DC Improv will never change. We'll always do our best to bring in top-notch headliners, showcase great local talent, take care of our audiences and keep an old-school comedy club vibe. But we ARE ready to change our official t-shirts, and that's where you come in.

From today through the end of May, local artists and comedy fans can submit their designs for a new Improv t-shirt. The winner of the competition will receive a $250 DC Improv gift card. A few ground rules: 1) Designs can't include the faces of any comics, alive or deceased. 2) Make sure there's something "DC" about your design. You can submit your design (or your questions about this contest) by e-mailing We'll accept submissions until 11:59 p.m. on May 31, and the winner will be notified via e-mail on June 7. Good luck!

Nikki Glaser

Nikki Glaser

April 29-30 (Fr-Sa) We got our first up-close look at Nikki in October 2015 -- her act features fearlessly honest talk about relationships and (*ahem*) the various related physical activities. Nikki is so good at what she does that Comedy Central gave her a show, "Not Safe," in early 2016. The show has been doing so well that the first season was extended a few extra weeks. And on top of all that, she's now Comedy Central's biggest star on Snapchat.

Basically, Nikki is now insanely busy, so it's cool that we're able to have her back on our stage. We are running low on tickets -- Saturday 7:30 is sold out, Saturday 9:45 has maybe 15 seats left as we're writing this sentence, and the Friday shows are both more than 2/3 full. If you're interested, act fast.

Tickets: $25 all shows

Ian Bagg

Ian Bagg

May 5-8 (Th-Su) On our podcast this week, we asked Ian how his comedy style developed. The answer was "hockey." Growing up in a remote part of British Columbia, Ian and his teammates had long bus rides to get to games, and they passed the time "chirping" - conversations lasted hours and featured guys poking fun at each other in a good-natured way.

Today, Ian uses those skills to have free-wheeling chats with the audience, and it's amazing to be a part of. Ian has plenty of great material -- remember, he was a top 5 finisher on "Last Comic Standing" last year. But the heart of his show will always be those friendly, unique interactions with the crowd. Every show is truly different, and any true comedy fan should experience Ian at least once.

Tickets: $17 Thursday/Sunday, $20 Friday/Saturday

Medium Cindy Kaza

Cindy Kaza

May 4 (W) Believers and skeptics are welcome as Cindy makes her third appearance at the DC Improv! Cindy is an evidential medium, which means she reaches out to the spirit world and tries to piece together enough specific information from the deceased to identify their loved ones and deliver messages. It's a fascinating process to watch, and even the most cynical audience members seem to experience at least one "holy crap" moment per show.

We promise you, it will be one of the most memorable Wednesdays you'll have all year.

Tickets: $20

Jake Johannsen

Jake Johannsen

June 2-5 (R-Su) When you have the chance, click over to YouTube and take a little nostalgia tour. Do a search for Jake's appearances on Letterman, and you'll enjoy an ever-changing parade of fashion and facial hair.

You'll also enjoy a lot of great comedy. As much as Jake's look has shifted (remember, he was on Letterman a record 46 times doing stand-up), one thing has stayed the same: Jake puts together rock-solid and brilliant routines. His show is a non-stop stream of jokes and observations on almost any imaginable topic, all held together by goofy, warped and hilarious logic. If you love the art of stand-up, then you will love the depth of his performances.

Tickets: $17 Thursday/Sunday, $20 Friday/Saturday

Loni Love

Loni Love

June 10-12 (F-Su) "Mother's Day" hits theaters this Friday, and it includes the latest appearance by Loni on the big screen. Of course, she's on the small screen almost every day, as a co-host of "The Real" and a regular contributor to "Ellen."

We're biased, but we still like her best on stage. Loni got her start as a stand-up comedian, and even with all her ventures into TV and film, she makes a point of doing club weekends when she can. DC has been on her radar the last few years, so we're getting another visit in about six weeks. The positive personality you see on "The Real" shines through on stage, with some extra edge to make things interesting.

Tickets: $22 all shows

Red Grant

Red Grant

September 9-11 (F-Su) Another local boy makes good! Red was born and raised right here in Washington, D.C. Comedy has taken him elsewhere, but this fall he'll be back to headline his hometown comedy club for the first time. Famous for his distinctive laugh and his raw comedy, Red is a favorite of some big-time celebs -- he is one of Shaq's all-stars, and he regularly opens up shows for Katt Williams and Snoop Dogg. (In fact, he was just in town opening for Katt at the Verizon Center.) He also has popped up on Comedy Central and HBO.

Should be a good time, and another chance to support a product of the District's thriving comedy scene.

Tickets: $20 Friday/Saturday, $17 Sunday

Dave Attell

Dave Attell

September 16-18 (F-Su) We loved watching Dave when he was on his way up; he was headlining the Improv even before "Insomniac" hit the air. His gift for dirty, silly comedy has led to a lot of different projects over the years, but Dave always identifies first and foremost as a stand-up. He keeps working the clubs, and each year he comes back to the Improv he further cements his status as one of our all-time great acts.

This year we're getting him September, and the buzz is already starting.

COMBO TICKETS: If you like Dave, you might enjoy Big Jay Oakerson, one of Dave's good friends and favorite comedians. When you click through to buy tickets for Dave, you'll see a "combo" option that gets you admission to the equivalent Jay show in May.

Tickets: $35 all shows
