Happy birthday, America! We got you a bunch of comedy shows. Specifically, 10 with DeRay Davis. We hope you like them.

If you watch our calendar, you know we've got a lot of big-name acts this summer -- and lots of the shows are selling out in advance. If you want warnings about the shows that are filling up, make sure you follow us on one of our social media channels. We give regular updates there. If you're looking for something a little more last minute, you can always check out whatever is happening in our lounge. We have lots of shows featuring local comics running on the weekends.

Attention Cheap People: We've got two shows for your in July. Open mic night (free admission) is back on July 20, and the "Five for $5" showcase returns on July 27.

New Podcasts: Our search for the funniest president is more than halfway home. We did a really fun interview with Frank Caliendo a few weeks ago, where he talked about his impressions of both George W. Bush and Donald Trump. You can get it through this link.

New Classes: Ever wanted to give comedy a try? We have a few spots left in our "summer school" classes, and we also just posted a whole bunch of classes that start in September. That includes a few sections of "Beginning Improv," which is probably one of the easiest ways to introduce yourself to performing on stage. All the available classes are at the bottom of this e-mail, or you can check them out at Here's the full course catalog.

New Shows: NYC Comedy Showcase (9/17), Lavell Crawford (10/14), Deon Cole (10/27), Adam Ferrara (11/3)

DeRay Davis

DeRay Davis

June 30 - July 3 (Th-Su) When DeRay came to the club last year, he was already a comedy star. Now he might be considered a superstar. In the last year, he appeared in "Barbershop: The Next Cut" and "Meet the Blacks," and he was a huge part of the Oxygen series "Living With Funny." Plus he continues to put on one of the most electric live shows we've ever seen.

We're looking at 10 shows this weekend (three of which are already sold out). As of this message, seats are available for Thursday 7:30, Thursday 9:30, Friday 7, Friday 11, Saturday 11, Sunday 7:30 and Sunday 9:30. Get your fireworks a few days early ... Share with friends on Facebook

Tickets: $35 general admission, $40 VIP (seating in front rows)

Frank Caliendo

Frank Caliendo

July 7-9 (Th-Sa) Why undersell it? Frank is one of the best impressionists on the planet. He can analyze a person's speech and mannerisms and recreate them flawlessly -- with the added bonus of his own comedic spin. Lately, he's been serving as the in-house comedian for ESPN. Before that he was the go-to guy on "MADtv." And through it all, he has continuously toured the country, keeping his stage show sharp.

A few weeks ago, Frank joined us on our podcast to break down two of his signature political impressions: Donald Trump and George W. Bush. He'll have those characters, and a ton more, in his back pocket when he makes his return to our stage. Share with friends on Facebook

Tickets: $35 Thursday/Friday, $39 Saturday

Doug Benson

Doug Benson

July 10 (Su) For the last decade, Doug has cornered the market on stoner comedy, with a goofy, lovable style that everyone can enjoy. He starred in the documentary "Super High Me," created "The Marijuana-Logues" and was even named the Stoner of the Year by High Times Magazine.

So you have to understand how lucky we are that Doug is celebrating Dab Day in DC. If you missed the memo, July 10 has joined April 20 as a stoner holiday. And if you WANT to celebrate, you might as well party with the champion. Doors open at 3:20, and showtime is 4:20. (Also we're already down to the last 100 tickets.) Share with friends on Facebook

Tickets: $20

Hypnotist Flip Orley

Flip Orley

August 4-7 (Th-Su) Hypnotism doesn't work quite like the movies. No one is using hypno-zombies to rob banks, assassinate world leaders or pick up dry cleaning. But hypnotism CAN make an amazing comedy show.

Flip Orley has been bringing comedic hypnotism to the Improv for more than 20 years. Once volunteers are "under," their creative minds wake up. And Flip has created a bunch of games that bring out astonishing actions and reactions. It's never the same show twice, and if someone in your group manages to get hypnotized, you'll have a story to remember for years. (Even if you're the hypnotized person, 'cuz hypnotism doesn't work quite like the movies.) Share with friends on Facebook

Tickets: $17 Thursday/Sunday, $19 Friday/Saturday

Deon Cole

Deon Cole

October 27-30 (Th-Su) Back in February, Deon did a late-night Friday show at the club. The next day, he hopped over to the Lincoln Theater and taped "Cole Blooded Seminar," his stand-up special that debuted on Comedy Central last weekend.

Why stop there? Deon is back in DC on Halloween weekend, bringing more stand-up to our stage. He's been all over the place in the last year. For a long time, he was one of Conan O'Brien's favorite writers, and he still stops in for guest segments all the time. He makes regular appearances on the hit show "Black-ish," and he's also one of the stars of the cop parody show "Angie Tribeca" on TBS. Share with friends on Facebook

Tickets: $25 Thursday/Sunday, $27 Friday/Saturday

Adam Ferrara

Adam Ferrara

November 3-6 (Th-Su) As long as we've known Adam, he has landed some cool gigs. He had great roles on "Rescue Me" and "Nurse Jackie," and he gets to drive ridiculous cars as a co-host on the American version of "Top Gear." (New episodes drop on Tuesdays, and they're in the middle of a new season right now.)

But Adam always thinks of himself as a stand-up, and it's what he keeps coming back to. He's a polished live performer who mixes observational comedy with heartfelt and hilarious updates on what's going on in his personal life. Some comedy shows are like catching up with a great friend -- Adam is definitely in that category. Share with friends on Facebook
