NEWS AND NOTES

We've got a ridiculous amount of variety at the club the next few weeks: stand-up, improv, podcast tapings, a pun contest, the finals of Comedy Hack Day, and so on.

If you're on the hunt for the lowest-cost options, we have another Five for $5 showcase coming on November 9. That's five local stand-ups performing, and the cost is just $5. This time out we've got Danny Rouhier, Martin Amini, Natalie McGill, Chris Milner and Pat Riley. Hosted by Kandyce August.

Five for Five

NEW YEAR'S EVE: Take some stress out of your holidays and lock in your New Year's plans early. We've got Tom Rhodes headlining the club, so it's good times guaranteed. You can come to the early dinner show or the late countdown show, which ends with the midnight celebration. We've also got extras for every ticketholder -- passes for a future show to the Improv, and a souvenir t-shirt celebrating our 25th year in business. Here's all the info on NYE.

HOLIDAY PARTIES: It's not too late to make your office party not stink. Come to the club, or we can bring comedy to you. Check out your options ...

NEW SHOWS: Veterans Day showcase (11/11 lounge), Open Mic (11/30), Ryan Conner (12/23 lounge), Christian Finnegan (2/9), Brandon T. Jackson (2/23)

NEW PODCAST: The search for the funniest president continues with a look at John F. Kennedy.

SOLD OUT: Beltway Pundits (11/3), The Mike O'Meara Show (11/5), Nick Cannon (11/10), Arsenio Hall (11/11)

THURSDAY-SUNDAY

Adam Ferrara: November 3-6

From what we've been seeing on social media, no matter who wins the election, the world is pretty much over. So get your laughs in while you can. Thursday through Sunday, we've got DC Improv favorite Adam Ferrara returning to the main showroom. We got to know Adam as a stand-up comedian, then we enjoyed watching him break out as an actor. (He was in "The Job," "Rescue Me" and "Nurse Jackie.") The last few years he had one of the greatest kid-in-a-candystore jobs as a co-host of "Top Gear" on the History Channel. Thankfully, he still also finds the time to do stand-up, because he's awesome.

SATURDAY

ComedySportz improv: November 5

If you need to pry the kids away from the candy bag this Saturday, we can help. The 7:30 ComedySportz show in our lounge is "all ages," so you can bring 'em out to enjoy some improv comedy ... and keep them from mainlining sugar for a few hours. The all-ages shows are interactive, clean, and a lot of fun.

You can also catch the ComedySportz guys doing their thing at 9:45 for our "Late Night Improv" show. It's ages 18 and up, and there aren't any restrictions on the content. So if you like your improv comedy with a little more sass, the Blue Show is for you. Click here for Late Night Improv tickets.

NEXT WEEK / LOUNGE

Vets Showcase / Brian McDaniel: Nov. 11-12

We are sold out in the main showroom next weekend with Arsenio Hall. But thanks to our lounge, you still have great options ...

November 11 (Friday): DMV Veterans Showcase. Close out your Veterans Day by watching veterans perform stand-up comedy. From the DMV comedy scene, we've got Haywood Turnipseed Jr. (Air Force), Chris Alan (Air Force), Courtney Fearrington (Marines), Tim Miller (Army) and Cerrome Russell (Marines).

November 12 (Saturday): Brian McDaniel. The PG County native (he's from Bowie) was a stand-out performer on "TMZ" for eight years, and he's also been popping up in soap operas, movies and more. He's coming back to where it all started, to perform some stand-up comedy in our lounge. We had a fun chat with him on the DC Improv podcast.

NEXT WEEK

Comedy Hack Day: November 13

This is the awesome conclusion of a comedy experiment. Comedy Hack Day DC is a weekend long "hackathon" bringing tech developers and comedians together to build hilarious apps and websites. Starting Friday night, "hackers" (coders, designers, engineers) and "hacks" (stand-up comedians, comedy writers, performers) toil away to create funny new tech products.

Their hard work culminates in a live comedy showcase of the best of the best, complete with a panel of judges, audience raffle prizes and more fun than that amazing tweet you thought of and then forgot. Guest judges include local stand-up comics Haywood Turnipseed and Hillary Scofield and #DCTech star Sibyl Edwards, President of DC Web Women. Hosted by DC's own Martin Amini.

THANKSGIVING WEEKEND

Donnell Rawlings: Nov. 25-27

Tonight (November 1): "Project Dad" debuts on cable. It's a new reality show featuring one of our hometown favorites, Donnell. Once you're done checking that out, you can snag tickets to see him live.

Donnell started out by heckling performers at DC comedy clubs, then took the stage himself. His success as a stand-up landed him a spot on “Chappelle’s Show,” securing him a spot in pop culture history, and he became a favorite on some huge East Coast radio shows (including the WPGC morning show). Skip the Black Friday sales – the only thing you need to buy are tickets to these shows.

SUPER BOWL WEEKEND

Gilbert Gottfried: February 2-4

Lady Gaga gets to do the Super Bowl halftime show this year, so we decided to go for an even bigger pre-show. For the three days before the big game, we've got comedy legend Gilbert Gottfried back at the club. Gilbert is an old-school comic who stays on the edge with a mix of raunchiness and absurdity. He made an unforgettable appearance in the documentary "The Aristocrats," got fired by Trump on "The Celebrity Apprentice" and he's still one of the most in-demand comedy roasters. Plus, he's got one of the hottest podcasts going ...

JUST ADDED

Brandon T. Jackson: February 23-26

Brandon has proved himself as one of the most talented young comedic actors working today, appearing in everything from sitcoms (“Mr. Robinson” in 2015) to smash-hit big-screen comedies (“Tropic Thunder”) to reality shows (“Living With Funny”). The Detroit native can also bring it as a stand-up comedian, armed with tales from the inner city, the suburbs and Hollywood. After selling out six shows with us in 2016, he'll be back to headline in early 2017.
