Announcing 10 new shows for our 25th anniversary celebration!

PLUS: Bob Marley and Donnell Rawlings close out November

The DC Improv

1140 Connecticut Ave. NW, WDC 20036

The DC Improv turns 25 in 2017. Finally, we can rent a car.

And we're celebrating all year long by putting on great shows for you. Our lineup for 2017 will feature a lot of our favorite performers from the first 25 years, plus some comedy legends and superstars. We're also looking to the future, with our "Next Wave" series and DC Improv debuts.

In the last two weeks, we put tickets on sale for 10 different shows, rounding out our calendar for the first three months of 2017. This supersized newsletter has quick writeups on each new addition -- plus our headliners for the next few weeks (Bob Marley, Donnell Rawlings and Orny Adams).

Please know that we couldn't do this with the comedy fans of the DMV, who are hands down the best in the country. Thank you for laughing with us all these years!

NEW SHOWS: Hey Frase anniversary (12/9), Dick Gregory (1/5), Jordan Rock (2/3), Jamie Lee (2/17), Sean Patton (2/24), Guy Torry (3/9), Cindy Kaza (3/15), Pablo Francisco (3/30), The Pump and Dump (5/17)

NEW YEAR'S EVE: Take some stress out of your holidays and lock in your New Year's plans early. We've got Tom Rhodes headlining the club, so it's good times guaranteed. You can come to the early dinner show or the late countdown show, which ends with the midnight celebration. We've also got extras for every ticketholder -- passes for a future show to the Improv, and a souvenir t-shirt celebrating our 25th year in business. Here's all the info on NYE.

BEGINNING IMPROV CLASSES: Our comedy school has added three sections of Beginning Improv starting in January 2017. This is our most popular class, and it's a great way to try something new and meet people. These are all going to sell out, especially with people getting tuition as holiday gifts or for New Year's resolutions. If you're interested, plan ahead.

Bob Marley: November 17-20

Bob Marley

One of our favorites! Most big-time comedians set up shop in New York or Los Angeles. Bob operates out of his home state of Maine, and it made him into a comedy hero. He has an endless supply of stories about his family, his childhood and New England living. (A few years ago, he set a world record with a 40-hour show where he barely repeated any jokes.) It’s all served up with good-natured, blue-collar attitude. He’s one of the most likable comics we know, and one of the nicest guys we know. If you need a laugh, Bob's your guy.

Donnell Rawlings: Nov. 25-27

Donnell Rawlings

If you saw "Saturday Night Live" over the weekend, you saw Donnell -- he was next to Dave Chappelle in the "Walking Dead" video short, dressed up as the classic hater characters. It was cool to see to great comedic talents from DC, and Donnell comes back to his hometown next week.

Donnell started out by heckling performers at DC comedy clubs, then took the stage himself. His success as a stand-up landed him a spot on “Chappelle’s Show,” securing him a spot in pop culture history, and he became a favorite on some huge East Coast radio shows (including the WPGC morning show). These shows are our Thanksgiving tradition, so party with your comedy family.

Orny Adams: December 1-4

Orny Adams

When Jerry Seinfeld made the documentary “Comedian,” he tapped Orny Adams to show another part of the comedy journey: a young guy trying to fight his way to the top. Fourteen years later, Orny is still in the game, and jokes have taken him around the world. He has written for the greats, been on the big talk shows and scored acting gigs. (He's a fan favorite on MTV's "Teen Wolf.") He perfected his own style of high-octane observational comedy. And now he’s back for more shows at the DC Improv.

NEW FOR 2017

The Next Wave Series

Jordan Rock Sean Patton

In 2017, the DC Improv celebrates its 25th anniversary by remembering the past –- and looking to the future. The Next Wave series features rising stars, recommended to us (and you) by some of our favorite DC Improv headliners. These are performers that comedy fans will be talking about for years to come, and this is your chance to see them up close at one of the most respected comedy venues in America.

We start the series off February 3-4 when Jordan Rock headlines the lounge for four shows. We continue a few weeks later when Sean Patton does the same February 24-25. Jordan is recommended by Tony Rock, and Sean is recommended by Ari Shaffir.

Dick Gregory: January 5

Dick Gregory

It's pretty straightforward on this one. Dick is a political comedy legend. He started his stand-up career in the 1950s, and he became famous for his pointed commentary and his social activism. (He even ran for president in 1968 as a write-in candidate.) He's got a few things to say about the 2016 campaign, and we're happy to have him return to our stage. This is one night only, so check out a legend ...

Christian Finnegan: February 9-12

Christian Finnegan

Christian is a pioneer of the “talking head” show, a sitcom actor and a Twitter all-star. Lately he’s been co-hosting “Black & White” on A&E, and he was a writer for “The Jim Gaffigan Show.” And most important (as far as we’re concerned), he’s one of our favorite stand-ups, delivering shows as sharp and funny as anyone on our schedule. (He even recorded one of his albums here.) Great to have him as part of our 25th year.

Jamie Lee: February 17-19

Jamie Lee

It’s a stand-up tour AND a book tour. Jamie Lee is one of the great young voices in the comedy world, writing for and starring in shows on MTV, truTV, TBS, HBO and more. In late 2016, she’ll also become a published author when “Weddiculous” hits the shelves – it’s her helpful and hilarious guide to planning your big day, inspired by her own recent marriage. These shows are her DC Improv debut – and if you get a “VIP” ticket, you also get a copy of the new book that Jamie will sign for you.

Guy Torry: March 9-12

Guy Torry

No one out-hustles Guy Torry. Starting out as a production assistant and open-miker in Los Angeles, he quickly rose through the ranks to become a television writer and headliner. His influential “Phat Tuesdays” showcase became a hot spot for top-level comedic talent, and his love and knowledge of sports has made him a favorite performer of many world-class athletes. Guy returns to us in 2017.

Medium Cindy Kaza: March 15

Cindy Kaza

She's back! Cindy uses her abilities to connect her audience with the spirit world. She’s an evidential medium, which means she brings forth specific information about people on the other side; once she establishes a connection, she conveys messages from the departed. Cindy is based in Nashville and Los Angeles, but her work takes her all around the world – and now it’s bringing her back to D.C. for a fourth performance at the Improv.

Godfrey: March 16-19

Godfrey goes big. He grew up in the melting-pot city of Chicago with Nigerian parents. Before long, he learned to make all kinds of people laugh with voices, wide-eyed expressions and a high-energy style of comedy. Today, he still strives to put on a show that breaks through barriers. In addition to being a comedy club favorite, Godfrey recorded a one-hour special for Comedy Central, appeared on “Louie,” and served as a national spokesman for 7UP. Last summer, he co-hosted the gameshow "Bullseye" on FOX.

Pablo Francisco: March 30-April 2

Pablo Francisco

Pablo is a high-energy tornado of voices, characters, impressions and laughs. Few comedians can throw themselves into a performance the way Pablo does. His stand-up has been featured in two one-hour specials on Comedy Central, and he was a cast member on “Mad TV.” His voice talent has also gotten national recognition, most famously his impression of “The Movie Trailer Guy” Don LaFontaine.

The Pump and Dump: May 17

The Pump and Dump

Here it is, straight from the stars of the show, Shayna Ferm and Tracey Tee: "The Pump and Dump show is a night for every kind of mom to be in the same room and laugh about the things we all have in common as parents. We started 4 years ago in a bar, and now we tour the country, create videos, write for blogs, wipe butts, make lunches, take conference calls, share beds in airport hotels, drive rentals and tell moms they are awesome every day."
