The happiest of holidays to anyone reading this.

As we close out 2016, we're also doing our best to make 2017 bright. This week we upgraded April with two more headliners on the schedule. One made her DCI debut in 2016, and another we haven't seen in way too long. Scroll down to the bottom to see who we're talking about.

New Year's Eve: If you don't have anything on the books just yet, come party with us. You get to see Tom Rhodes headline, and everyone who comes to a show that night gets a souvenir t-shirt celebrating the start of the Improv's 25th anniversary year. You also get a pass that you can use to get into another show in 2017. It's a sweet deal. Trust us, we've done it, like, 23 times before.

The Next Wave Series: We're a month out from the start of our Next Wave series, another way that we're celebrating our 25th anniversary. We ask big-time headliners which comics THEY love, then their picks get to headline shows at the Improv. So far, John Oliver has picked Jeff Maurer (January 21), Tony Rock has picked Jordan Rock (February 3-4), and Ari Shaffir has picked Sean Patton (February 24-25). More of these shows to come!

NEW SHOWS: ComedySportz improv (1/28), Ms. Pat (4/6), Adele Givens (4/13), Big Jay Oakerson (4/27)

SIRIUS XM on XMAS: If you have satellite radio and you don't want to listen to non-stop holiday music, Sirius is parterning with Improv comedy clubs on Christmas to give you a bunch of classic stand-up clips. Here's their teaser. We're also recording some locals for future play on SiriusXM on January 15.

Hypnotist Flip Orley: December 15-18

Flip Orley

Heads up: Less than 50 tickets remaining for Friday 7:30. Less than 30 for Saturday 7:30.

No two Flip Orley shows are the same, which is why he's been a DC Improv favorite since the 1990s. Flip uses hypnosis to turn audience members into the stars of the show. He leads volunteers through twisted scenarios, getting reactions that are almost beyond belief – and he does it all without humiliating anyone. Whether you’re on stage or watching from the audience, Flip’s show is unforgettable. And no, we weren’t hypnotized into writing this.

Merry Murder Mystery: December 21

Merry Murder Mystery

Heads up: Less than 20 tickets remaining for this show.

The Merry Murder Mystery (presented by the guys at Die Laughing Productions) transports you to Nakatomi Consulting’s annual Holiday Party and Secret Santa gift exchange. The guest who gives the best gift will be the hit of the party. The one with the worst gift might just end up dead. 98 Rock morning show co-host Justin Schlegel and comedians Rob Maher, Joe Robinson and Tommy Sinbazo return to star alongside you, the audience. Several willing audience members will get to play roles in the production and everyone in the audience will get to guess, who’s been naughty and who’s been nice.

Tony Woods: December 22-23

Tony Woods

Tony's style is an unforgettable mix of "laid back" and "totally in control." He started doing stand-up right here in the District, and he has influenced countless stand-ups -- he can count Dave Chappelle among his many distinguished fans. Tony returns to the DC Improv stage this December, and the Friday shows will be taped for an upcoming special. Come see a hometown hero at his best.

Tom Rhodes: December 29-30

Tom Rhodes

We guess it's POSSIBLE that some people made New Year's Eve plans for somewhere other than the Improv. We'd hate for those people to miss out on Tom Rhodes, so you can still see him a day or two earlier.

D.C. is an international city, and Tom is an international comedian. We get a lot of great stand-ups at the Improv, but so far he’s the only one who hosted a talk show in the Netherlands. Tom shares his travels both on stage and online, through his Tom Rhodes Radio podcast and his travel writing. He also makes regular appearances on other podcasts and Comedy Central.

Bryan Callen: January 12-14

Bryan Callen

Bryan has been all over the small screen, thanks to “MadTV” and great guest roles in tons of TV shows. (Fan of “The Goldbergs”? He’s Coach Meller, and they're working on a 1990s spinoff starring Bryan.) He’s a podcasting star, showing up regularly on Joe Rogan’s program and hosting “The Fighter and the Kid” with former UFC heavyweight Brendan "Big Brown" Schaub. And he’s a stand-up hero too, who will be on our stage at the start of 2017.

Ms. Pat: April 6-9

Ms. Pat

One of the highlights or our 2016 was getting to know Ms. Pat, who made her DC Improv debut in February. We're thinking her return might be a highlight of 2017.

A rough-and-tumble childhood in Atlanta saw Ms. Pat dealing drugs and having two children before she was 16. She spent her 20s raising six kids (including four of her sister’s) and scraping to get by. But the amazing stories she collected in those years became the foundation for her honest and hilarious comedy routines. Since trying her first open mic in 2003, she has never slowed down. Pat is a favorite guest on all the biggest comedy podcasts, and in 2015 she appeared on “Last Comic Standing” and “This Is Not Happening.”

Adele Givens: April 13-15

Adele Givens

Comedy royalty makes a long-awaited return to the DC Improv this April. Queen Adele Givens is widely recognized as one of the most dynamic and entertaining performers out there – fans love her stand-up (Queens of Comedy) and her TV and movie work (The Hughleys, The Players Club and lots more). It has been far too long since she graced our stage. Welcome her back this spring! Share with friends on Facebook.
