We added a LOT of stuff to the calendar in the last few weeks -- Next Wave shows, headliners for the spring, a few free events in February and more. We've got a few writeups below, but you can visit for a complete rundown on any show.

Also, we don't want to meddle with your love life, but Valentine's Day is around the corner. We're open with an excellent local comedy showcase.

NEW SHOWS: Dying Laughing (2/15), Open Mic Night (2/16), Trivia night (2/16), Comedy Kumite 9 (3/18), Tom Segura Thursday late show (3/26), Next Wave: Rick Gutierrez (3/29), Next Wave: Moreno and Robles (4/5), Next Wave: Mike Speirs (4/15), Clayton English (4/20), The Tony Perkins Show (4/29), Aries Spears (6/8), Nikki Glaser (6/16)

KID FRIENDLY SHOWS THIS SATURDAY: This weekend, ComedySportz for Kids returns to the DC Improv. It's an afternoon show (2:30 p.m.) of improv comedy, suitable for kids as young as first grade. On Saturday night, we also have a few seats left for our all-ages ComedySportz show at 7:30.

FREE MOVIE SCREENING (2/15): "Dying Laughing" is a new documentary about stand-up comedy, featuring lots of big-name stars. We're hosting an advance screening on Feburary 15, and admission is free. (You can reserve seats online, for a $1.50 service charge.) Click here to see the trailer.

25TH ANNIVERSARY T-SHIRTS / PINT GLASSES: All the greatest parties involve celebratory t-shirts. We've got new shirts featuring our anniversary logo on the front and the club motto ("... because life is too important to be taken seriously") on the back. They're $15, and you can order them online or pick one up the next time you're at the club. We've also got pint glasses with the logo for sale, just not online. If you want one of those, ask a server the next time you're here.

Brent Morin: January 26-29

Brent Morin

Brent's a hustler: He started out as a production assistant for "Conan," and now he's a regular guest on the show. He first appeared on the DC Improv stage in 2014 as part of the “Undateable” tour – he co-starred in that NBC sitcom with fellow stand-ups Chris D’Elia and Ron Funches. His profile as a stand-up has been on the rise following the 2015 release of his Netflix special, "I'm Brent Morin." He's one of the top young talents in the comedy world, and we’re excited to have him headlining the DC Improv a second time.

Also appearing: Jason Collings and Martin Amini

Gilbert Gottfried: February 2-4

A true American original! Gilbert's resume includes a favorite kids' movie ("Aladdin"), some amazingly filthy Comedy Central roasts, a year on "Saturday Night Live" and a great interview podcast. He even got fired by Trump on "Celebrity Apprentice."

But to get the full Gilbert experience, you need to see him doing stand-up. Sometimes silly, sometimes raunchy, always squinting ... there's no one else quite like him.

Jordan Rock: February 3-4

Jordan Rock

As part of the DC Improv's 25th anniversary celebration, we're asking great headliners to recommend comics that you need to see. We've already had shows recommended by Dave Attell (Mike Vecchione) and John Oliver (Jeff Maurer). Next week, we've got the choice of Tony Rock:

Jordan Rock started comedy at a very young age, jumping right into the same industry as his older brothers. He is currently starring in several Netflix features and has been seen on FX, “Last Comic Standing” and more. We saw him as a feature act in 2015, so we're excited to see what he can do as a headliner. And these shows are in our lounge -- you'll be right up close to the action.

Also appearing: Reg Thomas and Tim Loulies

Gabriel Iglesias / Bob Marley Next Wave Picks

It's a simple idea: We ask great headliners to recommend rising stars that DMV comedy fans need to see. Then those people headline shows at the Improv. We just added three shows to the Next Wave series for the spring, all for $17 or less:

Rick Gutierrez (picked by Gabriel Iglesias) is here March 29.

Martin Moreno and Alfred Robles (picked by Gabriel Iglesias) are here April 5.

Mike Speirs (picked by Bob Marley) is here April 15.

Brandon T. Jackson: February 23-26

Brandon T. Jackson

Brandon has proved himself as one of the most talented young comedic actors working today, appearing in everything from sitcoms (“Mr. Robinson” in 2015) to smash-hit big-screen comedies (“Tropic Thunder”) to reality shows (“Living With Funny”). The Detroit native can also bring it as a stand-up comedian, armed with tales from the inner city, the suburbs and Hollywood. Come check out his second headlining appearance at the DC Improv.

Clayton English: April 20-23

Quick-witted, good-natured and flat-out funny, Clayton exploded onto the national comedy scene when he won "Last Comic Standing" in 2015. His victory lap had him performing at clubs, colleges and theaters all across the country, honing his already impressive skills. Now adding more and more TV credits to his resume, Clayton seems poised to become an even bigger star. This April, he returns to Washington for his second headlining week at the DC Improv.

Nikki Glaser: June 16-18

Nikki Glaser

At a young age, Nikki has done it all. She has traveled the country as a road comic, hosted a hit podcast, and starred a few of her own TV shows – the latest being Comedy Central’s “Not Safe.” Fearless and frank, she’s bold and hilarious when talking about romance, relationships and all the other fun stuff that no one really understands. This is one of the rising stars of comedy, and this is a chance to see her live.
