20 EVENTS FOR $20 OR LESS: Good times on a budget! There's a nice quirk in our schedule over the next six weeks. With only one exception, admission is $20 or less for every event at the Improv between now and March 20. That covers both showrooms. It starts this Thursday with Christian Finnegan ... and you can see the full slate, with prices, in the calendar at the bottom of this newsletter.

BEST OF DC POLL: Washington City Paper runs a poll every year looking for the best things in DC. We always strive to be the best comedy venue -- if you think we're succeeding, please take a few seconds and cast your vote. Thank you!

NEW SHOWS: ComedySportz shows (2/18), Hey Frase (2/24), DMV Showcase (2/25), Jak Knight (3/3), Jake and Amir podcast (5/3)

KID-FRIENDLY SHOWS: We have another Saturday of family-friendly entertainment on February 18. ComedySportz for Kids (good for kids as young as first grade) is at 2:30, and ComedySportz improv is that night at 7:30.

FREE EVENTS NEXT WEEK: "Dying Laughing" is a new documentary about stand-up comedy, featuring lots of big-name stars. We're hosting an advance screening on February 15, and admission is free. (You can reserve seats online, for a $1.50 service charge.) Click here to see the trailer. We've also got our monthly open mic on February 16 (Thursday night). That's also free admission, and it features a bunch of talent from the DMV.

LIVE PODCASTS: The Improv has been hosting some very cool live podcasts over the last year, and we've got a big one on the way. Comedy stars Jake and Amir are bringing "If I Were You" to the club on May 3 for one night only, and tickets are on sale now. We've also got local podcasts coming up ... Hey Frase is back February 24, and The Tony Perkins Show records April 29.

Christian Finnegan: February 9-12

Christian Finnegan

Christian is a pioneer of the “talking head” show, a sitcom actor and a Twitter all-star. Lately he’s been co-hosting “Black & White” on A&E, and he was a writer for “The Jim Gaffigan Show.” And most important (as far as we’re concerned), he’s one of our favorite stand-ups, delivering shows as sharp and funny as anyone on our schedule.

Also appearing: Kasha Patel and Courtney Fearrington

Jamie Lee: February 17-19

Jamie Lee

Jamie is one of the great young voices in the comedy world, writing for and starring in shows on MTV, truTV, TBS, HBO and more. (She has been working on the new Pete Holmes HBO show "Crashing.") In late 2016, she became a published author when “Weddiculous” hit the shelves – it’s her guide to planning your big day, inspired by her own recent marriage. These shows are her DC Improv debut.

Also appearing: Jacqueline Novak and Josh Kuderna

Brandon T. Jackson: February 23-26

Brandon T. Jackson

Brandon has proved himself as one of the most talented young comedic actors working today, appearing in everything from sitcoms (“Mr. Robinson” in 2015) to smash-hit big-screen comedies (“Tropic Thunder”) to reality shows (“Living With Funny”). The Detroit native can also bring it as a stand-up comedian, armed with tales from the inner city, the suburbs and Hollywood. Come check out his second headlining appearance at the DC Improv.

Brad Williams: March 2-5

Brad Williams

Good things come in small packages, right? Brad has an “anything goes” attitude, and he happens to be a dwarf. Those two elements combine to make one hell of an entertaining night at the club. You've seen him on Comedy Central and Showtime, and he even had a role in the new Netflix movie "Mascots." Now it's time to see him live, get a different perspective on life ... and enjoy big laughs.

Also appearing: Drew Morgan (wellRED comedy tour)

Jak Knight: March 3-4

Jak Knight

Another young stand-up star makes his DC Improv debut this March when Jak headlines our 60-seat lounge. The Seattle native has been getting notice for both his writing (on "Lucas Brothers Moving Company" and more) and his stand-up, appearing in the Oddball Comedy festival and opening for some big-time stars. He's got a stand-up special and an animated Netflix show in the works ... so catch him now, on his way up.

Clayton English: April 20-23

Clayton English

Quick-witted, good-natured and flat-out funny, Clayton exploded onto the national comedy scene when he won "Last Comic Standing" in 2015. His victory lap had him performing at clubs, colleges and theaters all across the country, honing his already impressive skills. Now adding more and more TV credits to his resume, Clayton seems poised to become an even bigger star. This April, he returns to Washington for his second headlining week at the DC Improv.
