WHAT'S NEW

The DC Improv opened in 1992, and so far our yearlong 25th anniversary celebration has been a blast. We've had new faces and big-time stars gracing the stage. A lot more is on the way -- we just added Bruce Bruce and Frank Caliendo to the schedule. If you've already joined the party this year, thanks for being part of the club. If you haven't, what are you waiting for?

BEST OF DC POLL: Washington City Paper runs a poll every year looking for the best things in DC, and the voting closes this Sunday. We always strive to be the best comedy venue -- if you think we're succeeding, please take a few seconds and cast your vote. Thank you!

NEW COMEDY CLASSES: If you're looking for a low-stress way to try comedy, we just added our first Beginning Improv class for the spring. (It starts April 5.) If you're more interested in comedy writing, we have three different workshops about sketch and comedy writing, toward the end April. Get all the info at dcimprov.com.

NEW SHOWS:  Beltway Pundits (5/2), Bruce Bruce (5/4), Frank Caliendo (6/2), Jo Koy (8/11, rescheduled from June)

THE NEXT WAVE SERIES RETURNS: It's a simple concept. We ask some of our favorite headliners to recommend comics that you need to see. Then we bring your the people that they pick. Next week (March 10-11) we resume the Next Wave series when Sean Patton takes over our lounge showroom, with an endorsement from Ari Shaffir. And Gabriel Iglesias' picks are headed to DC in about a month. Get the full lineup right here.

TONIGHT - SUNDAY

Brad Williams: March 2-5

Brad Williams

PLEASE NOTE: Both Saturday shows are already sold out!

"Here's how I write jokes. Step one, be a dwarf. Step two, wait." Brad has been in the stand-up game for a long time, wowing audiences with his anything goes attitude and stories of his life as a dwarf. You've seen him on Comedy Central and Showtime, and he appears in the new Netflix movie "Mascots." Now, for the first time he headlines the DC Improv!

Also appearing: Drew Morgan (wellRED comedy tour) and Lafayette Wright

TONIGHT AND SATURDAY

Jak Knight: March 3-4

Jak Knight

Over in our lounge, we've got another DC Improv headlining debut. Seattle native Jak Knight has the name of a nordic 1980s action movie villain, but the soul of a comedian. He has been getting notice for both his writing (on "Lucas Brothers Moving Company" and more) and his stand-up, appearing in the Oddball Comedy festival and opening for some big-time stars.

Guy Torry: March 9-12

No one out-hustles Guy Torry. Starting out as a production assistant and open-miker in Los Angeles, he quickly rose through the ranks to become a television writer and headliner. His influential “Phat Tuesdays” showcase became a hot spot for top-level comedic talent, and his love and knowledge of sports has made him a favorite performer of many world-class athletes.

NEXT WEEK (LOUNGE)

Next Wave: Sean Patton: March 10-11

The Next Wave series features comics recommended to you by some of our favorite headliners. We've already seen performers who got the thumbs up from Dave Attell, John Oliver and Tony Rock. Now the choice of Ari Shaffir is on deck!

Sean Patton is a fantastic stand-up and storyteller. The New Orleans native has been seen on “Maron,” “Inside Amy Schumer,” and Comedy Central’s storytelling show “This is Not Happening.” In fact, Ari (the host and creator of TINH) called Sean’s “cumin” story the best one of season 2.

The Atlanta native was one of the most popular hosts of "Comic View," he has toured the country countless times, and he's always a memorable presence in whatever movie or music video he pops up in. As the Improv continues its 25th anniversary celebration, we're thrilled to have Bruce joining the party.
