WHAT'S NEW

Every show at the club this week (Martin Moreno/Alfred Robles, Ms. Pat, the Comedy School Showcase and the DMV Showcase) falls into the category of highly affordable, with tickets at $20 or less. So if you need a pick-me-up, this is a great week to treat yourself.

For the advance planners, we put tickets for Tommy Davidson on sale. He's here Labor Day weekend, so mark your calendars. We've also got a one-nighter coming up with Ryan Davis, a stand-up who has been breaking through with his pop culture commentaries on Facebook. He's here July 23, making his DC Improv debut.

If you're fishing for Mothers Day gifts or plans, we've got Tom Papa here that actual weekend. And we just added a Tuesday, May 16 show for "The Pump and Dump," a moms-night-out comedy tour.

This Wednesday: Martin Moreno and Alfred Robles co-headline the main showroom for our Next Wave series. They come recommended to you buy Gabriel Iglesias, their frequent touring partner. Tickets are $17. Get over the hump in style ...

New Shows: DMV Showcase (4/8), ASAP grad show (5/2), trivia night (5/11), Pump and Dump Tuesday show (5/16), Ryan Davis (7/23), Tommy Davidson (8/31)

Beginning Improv class: Feeling impulsive? We can still squeeze you into the five-week improv class that starts this Wednesday (4/5). Or we've got two more sections starting at the end of the month.

THURSDAY-SUNDAY

Ms. Pat: April 6-9

Amazing real-life stories and great on-stage energy have made Ms. Pat a new favorite in the comedy world -- you have got to see her honest and hilarious takes on being a mom, and on her own rough-and-tumble childhood in Atlanta. (She's been shot twice, which is two times more than most comedians.) In 2015 she appeared on “Last Comic Standing” and “This Is Not Happening.”

NEXT WEEK

Adele Givens: April 13-15

Comedy royalty makes a long-awaited return to the DC Improv this April. Queen Adele Givens is widely recognized as one of the most dynamic and entertaining performers out there – fans love her stand-up (Queens of Comedy) and her TV and movie work (The Hughleys, The Players Club and lots more). It has been far too long since she graced our stage. Welcome her back this spring!

NEXT WEEK

Next Wave / Mike Speirs: April 15

We love comedian Bob Marley, who plays the Improv just about every year. He told us to go get Mike Speirs for the Next Wave series ... so in less than two weeks, you can see Mike headline our lounge. Mike was a social studies teacher. You could argue that he still is, only now the lessons are delivered from a stand-up comedy stage. He's a regular opening act for Bob, and we're really looking forward to seeing what he can do.

Tom’s a master of observational comedy, laying out his side of the story with a mix of exasperation and amusement. Respected by people throughout the entertainment industry – everyone from Jerry Seinfeld to Rob Zombie is a fan – he has landed gigs as an actor and a game show host. He’s also in charge of “Come to Papa,” a podcast that features top-notch comedic and celebrity guests. On Mother’s Day weekend, bring your mama to Papa!

MOTHERS DAY GIFT

The Pump and Dump: May 16-17

NOTE: The Wednesday show is sold out. Tickets for Tuesday are now on sale.

Shayna Ferm and Tracey Tee say it best: "The Pump and Dump show is a night for every kind of mom to be in the same room and laugh about the things we all have in common as parents. We started 4 years ago in a bar, and now we tour the country, create videos, write for blogs, wipe butts, make lunches, take conference calls, share beds in airport hotels, drive rentals and tell moms they are awesome every day."

ADVANCE PLANNING

Tommy Davidson: Aug. 31 - Sept. 3

Tommy Davidson contributed countless unforgettable sketches to “In Living Color,” then stole the big screen in “Booty Call,” “Juwanna Man,” “Black Dynamite” and more. He continues to lend his talents to animated shows (for both Disney and the Cartoon Network), television and movie projects. And of course, he’s still touring the country doing stand-up. Washington is the city where Tommy launched his stand-up career, so we’re always proud to have him back.
