WHAT'S NEW

May is looking STACKED at the club: Bruce Bruce, Tom Papa, The Pump and Dump, Craig Robinson and Michael Blackson. Most of the shows in our main showroom will sell out this month. If you want to take a lesson out of all this and plan ahead, our July just got a lot hotter with a comedy industry superstar and a "Last Comic Standing" champ now in the mix. Details for Judd Apatow and John Heffron are below.

Tickets on sale for Jim Ross: Wrestling legend Jim Ross is coming back to the club on August 10 for another edition of his "Ringside" show, and he'll be joined by guest host Chad Dukes of 106.7. We announced the show last week, and the tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. today (May 2). Here's the link if you want to grab some seats.

Hasan Minhaj / WHCD recap: Some of the most memorable moments in the Improv's 25 year history are the surprises. Last week, reps from Hasan Minhaj contacted the club. He was going to headline the White House Correspondents Dinner on April 29 and wanted to run his set a few times the night before. We put together a $5 Friday showcase, with four performers announced and one TBD. So 120 comedy fans who paid only $5 were surprised with a sneak preview of one of DC's biggest annual comedy traditions. Thanks to everyone who made it to the shows. And keep reading these newsletters for hints and announcements about big shows in the future.

New Shows: Open Mic Night (5/24), John Heffron (7/6), Judd Apatow (7/20)

THURSDAY-SUNDAY

Bruce Bruce: May 4-7

PLEASE NOTE: The only shows currently available are Thursday 7:30 and Sunday 7:00. If shows are added they will be announced on the Facebook event and dcimprov.com.

Bruce Bruce stormed his way to the top of the comedy world. The Atlanta native was one of the most popular hosts of "Comic View," he has toured the country countless times, and he's always a memorable presence in whatever movie or music video he pops up in. As the Improv continues its 25th anniversary celebration, we're thrilled to have Bruce joining the party.

ONE MONTH AWAY

Next Wave / Marshall Brandon: June 2-3

In one month you can check out the seventh installment of our "Next Wave" series, where top headliners recommend rising stars for you to see. This time out, DC's own Donnell Rawlings has personally endorsed one of his favorite comedy friends: Marshall Brandon.

Marshall has been honing his craft for two decades, traveling the country and working with big-name stars. We’ve seen him here at the Improv the last few years as the feature act for Donnell. Now Marshall gets a chance to headline our lounge showroom -- so you'll be right up close with a fantastic talent.

LOOKING AHEAD

Nikki Glaser: June 16-18

Share with friends on Facebook. At a young age, Nikki has done it all. She has traveled the country as a road comic, hosted a hit podcast, and starred a few of her own TV shows – the latest being Comedy Central’s "Not Safe." Fearless and frank, she’s bold and hilarious when talking about relationships and all the other fun stuff that no one really understands. This is one of the rising stars of comedy, and this is your chance to see her live.

JUST ADDED

John Heffron: July 6-9

Share with friends on Facebook. Middle-class comedy at its best. John got national attention when he won the second season of "Last Comic Standing" on NBC. Since then, the Detroit native has been a fixture on the stand-up circuit, a regular contributor to broadcast and cable TV shows and a best-selling author. His stand-up puts audiences in the passenger seat for his personal journey from college student to stepdad. His combination of enthusiasm and cynicism has won over audiences across the country.

Judd Apatow: July 20-22

Share with friends on Facebook. Judd has been a guiding force behind some of the biggest, most successful movie comedies of all time – "Trainwreck," "Bridesmaids," "Anchorman," "The 40 Year Old Virgin" ... and the list goes on. He was the executive producer of the cult-hit TV show "Freaks and Geeks," and he continues to put his stamp on the small screen with the new series "Crashing" and "Love." And now he’s returning to one of his first loves: stand-up comedy. Come check out one of the most influential voices in American comedy today.
