WHAT'S NEW

This fall, we're going nuts with our 60-seat lounge showroom. There will be shows in that space just about every Friday and Saturday night, and the ticket prices will be the $10-$20 range. And it's gonna be a great mix of top-notch local performers and out-of-town headliners.

This week, we've got a DMV Showcase on Saturday night, featuring Kasha Patel, Wendy Wroblewski, Elahe Izadi, Mia Jackson and Paris Sashay. Tickets are $17. Next week Tim Dillon will be here from New York, as part of our Next Wave series. Info on that show is below.

New Shows: All in our lounge showroom! DMV Showcases (9/29, 9/30, 10/20), Porkchop Volcano improv (10/5), School Showcase (10/6), Science Comedy Night with Matthew Broussard (10/13)

Back to School: Did shoving the kids out the door put you in a back-to-school mood? We've got a section of Beginning Improv starting this Saturday (9/9) that runs once a week for six weeks. There are two slots still open.

Dupont Underground / Lincoln Cottage: We're now two weeks away from our next show at Dupont Underground, the art space in the trolley tunnels underneath Dupont Circle. The Make Up Party will have a dozen comedy teams competing for a $250 prize, by presenting their best five minutes on the theme of "animals." And we're a little over three weeks away from the 9/27 show we're presenting with President Lincoln's Cottage. That evening will see a showcase of comedians who are also veterans

THURSDAY-SUNDAY

Tony Roberts: September 7-10

Invite friends on Facebook. We're kicking off our fall with another visit from the Motorcity Motormouth. Tony puts on a great, animated show. And as an added bonus, he's one of the nicest guys we get to work with. You've seen him on HBO, you've heard him on the Steve Harvey show. Trust us, you definitely want to see him at the DC Improv.

Featuring: Skeet Carter and Mia Jackson

NEXT WEEK

Tim Dillon: September 15-16

Invite friends on Facebook. Our Next Wave series continues next weekend, with a comedian recommended to you by Christian Finnegan. Tim Dillon is one of the hottest comics on the New York scene right now. His unconventional takes on society and politics have won critical acclaim (Rolling Stone just named him one of 10 comics you NEED to know), and his podcast “Tim Dillon Is Going to Hell” has been climbing the charts. We've got him in our lounge for two nights, which means you have four chance to see him up close and personal.

COMEDY CENTRAL STAR

Moshe Kasher: September 21-23

Invite friends on Facebook. The last time Moshe played the Improv? 2013. He's been insanely busy since then, becoming one of Comedy Central's favorites. He wrote for some roasts, acted and wrote for "Another Period," and got his own show "Problematic" this year. Somewhere in there he even got married (to comedian Natasha Leggero, nonetheless). We're happy to welcome back one of the quickest, sharpest comedians working today.

MUSIC + COMEDY

Rockin' Mic Night: September 24

Rockin' Mic Night

Invite friends on Facebook. We're taking some funny people and putting them on stage with the HariKaraoke Band. They'll tell you something funny, then sing a song -- and you can decide if the song or the jokes are more hilarious. And when the show's over, audience members get their shot at live band karaoke on the Improv stage. This will be our first ever Rockin' Mic Night -- if you love the idea, come to this show and it probably won't be the last.

Price: $10 general admission

DAILY SHOW STAR

Roy Wood Jr.: October 6-8

Roy Wood Jr.

Invite friends on Facebook. Millions of people have gotten to know Roy for his work on “The Daily Show,” and millions more remember his work on the TBS sitcom “Sullivan and Son.” But long before those gigs, Roy was known as a beast on the stand-up circuit – someone who was cracking up audiences coast to coast. He returns to the DC Improv this fall for another weekend headlining on our main stage.

LOOKING AHEAD

Dave Attell: October 13-15

Please note: The Saturday early show is already sold out.

Invite friends on Facebook. Dave built his following the old fashioned way: He earned it. Starting in New York, he eventually took to the road, sharing his ”very adult” comedy with audiences across the country. By the time Comedy Central signed him to do “Insomniac,” he was already one of the most popular touring stand-ups. Dave is still a presence on TV, not to mention Netflix (check out "Road Work"). And he continues to cement his status as one of the all-time great club comics.
