Whilst I will not debate the rights and wrongs of Brexit, there is no doubt it has a devastating impact on renewable energy and off-grid issues. In the UK, it dominates the agenda, allowing at least four significant events to go relatively unnoticed - the first solar-powered day in the UK, the shocking levels of pollution across the country, the launch of Kate Raworth's book on the doughnut economy and a village in Stirlingshire going smart. In as far as energy gets a mention in party manifestos, it’s all about prices and the pseudo competition between energy companies. So, a country that should be taking a lead is paralysed. Fortunately, other European countries such as Germany, Sweden, and Norway are still leading the way towards renewable energy.
