Legendary boxer Muhammad Ali passed away at age 74 on June 3. Ali’s death immediately sparked an outpouring of remembrances and tributes, including from those in the PR and ad industries; Ali was a prolific self-promoter who worked with brands including Apple, Gatorade, and Wheaties. Alan Taylor, who was a sports writer before founding his eponymous communications firm, reflected on the times his career intersected with Ali’s. Trevor Beattie, cofounder of ad agency BMB, recounted the time he and Ali had dinner in London.
