US Weekender | June 11th 2016

Welcome to PRWeek's Weekender newsletter, which catches you up on everything you missed during the week, gives you a few long reads for the weekend, and highlights trends in the communications industry over the past seven days.

PRWeek has launched the 2016 edition of its Global Power Book, which provides an in-depth look into the minds of more than 300 PR industry leaders and execs. Respondents shared insight into which political candidates they support, which social platforms they find most useful, and where they think the industry will go in the future. With hundreds of detailed answers and profiles, it’s the PR industry’s definitive guide to power players around the globe.

Legendary boxer Muhammad Ali passed away at age 74 on June 3. Ali’s death immediately sparked an outpouring of remembrances and tributes, including from those in the PR and ad industries; Ali was a prolific self-promoter who worked with brands including Apple, Gatorade, and Wheaties. Alan Taylor, who was a sports writer before founding his eponymous communications firm, reflected on the times his career intersected with Ali’s. Trevor Beattie, cofounder of ad agency BMB, recounted the time he and Ali had dinner in London.
