US Weekender | April 1st 2017

The biggest communications story of this week was #LeggingsGate, which began on Sunday morning after employees of United Airlines wouldn’t let young girls in leggings board a flight due to their attire. After a social-media-fueled controversy ensued, the airline acknowledged it should have used a more thoughtful response to complaints on Twitter.

This week also had some sad news: technology communications pioneer and WE Communications founder Pam Edstrom died at age 71 after a four-month battle with cancer. Aside from cofounding the agency, then known as Waggener Edstrom, she was director of PR at Microsoft. Edstrom also worked with clients including MasterCard, Dell, and Boeing during her career.
