US Weekender | August 22nd 2015
Welcome to PRWeek's Weekender newsletter, which catches you up on everything you missed during the week, gives you a few long reads for the weekend, and highlights the biggest trends in the communications industry over the past seven days. Enjoy your weekend!

If the week before last was characterized by social media-based blunders, this past week was all about far more serious crises, the type PRs have nightmares about: Subway’s spokesman of 15 years Jared Fogle was fired after being arrested on charges of trafficking child pornography and engaging in sexual acts with a minor; gigabytes of users’ personal data from controversial affair-seekers’ website Ashley Madison was leaked on the Dark Net for all to see; the SEC charged more than 30 individuals who are accused of orchestrating an elaborate hacking scheme that targeted several wire services’ press releases to gain early access to financial information.

And then there was The New York Timesexposé of working conditions at online retail giant Amazon.

But there were also a number of stories that shouldn’t get overshadowed by the more controversial headlines. The FDA approved Addyi, the first-ever female libido-enhancement drug. MSLGroup’s search for a new, “truly international” CEO led them to FleishmanHillard's Guillaume Herbette, who will will succeed Olivier Fleurot. Other notable moves include former Grayling CEO Pete Pedersen heading to Sonos and Porter Novelli nabbing Catherine Fink.
