US Weekender | September 12th 2015
Welcome to PRWeek's Weekender newsletter, which catches you up on everything you missed during the week, gives you a few long reads for the weekend, and highlights the biggest trends in the communications industry over the past seven days. Enjoy your weekend!

PRWeek broke three major acquisition and merger stories this past week – all on the same day. The day of triple breakers - "Deal Thursday" - started with Hill+Knowlton Strategies announcing its acquisition of Brazilian agency Ideal to ramp up a presence in the region prior to the 2016 Rio Olympics. Next, Finn Partners revealed its acquisition of New York/San Francisco agency Horn Group, a deal that will grow its offices in those cities. Finally, PR agencies Emanate and Access Communications announced they would merge at the start of 2016, and that Emanate CEO Kim Sample had decided to step down.

In tech news, Apple introduced the world to the iPad Pro and the iPhone 6s during its “Hey Siri” event on September 9. Consumers seemed to like the products, even as Apple’s share price fell slightly. And PRWeek readers so far say they weren’t blown away by the actual presentation. Though Apple recently revealed it would allow users to block ads on its mobile devices, Instagram went in the opposite direction: the Facebook-owned photo-sharing app announced it would open its platform to all advertisers.
