US Weekender | October 3rd 2015
Welcome to PRWeek's Weekender newsletter, which catches you up on everything you missed during the week, gives you a few long reads for the weekend, and highlights the biggest trends in the communications industry over the past seven days. Enjoy your weekend!

To recognize and honor those driving the PR industry’s evolution, PRWeek has once again profiled 50 of the best and brightest innovators in marketing and communications with the Innovation 50. Armed with digital strategies and new tech, these disrupters and creatives are transforming business. This year’s class represents companies of all kinds, from startups to established digital brands to innovative mainstays such as NASA.

Though this year’s Innovation 50 and 40 Under 40 classes are both diverse and inclusive, the PR industry still faces challenges attracting a true mix of people. PR pros at Advertising Week stressed that a lack of representation will not go away on its own: it must be met head-on. As Francisca Fanucchi and Nicol Addison wrote in an op-ed this week, diversity isn't just having more women or people of color in the room, but also representing diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, orientations, political and religious beliefs, and even physical abilities.
