“Can I get a credit card if I’ve got a bad credit rating?”

David Robert, via email

Anita from our Money Sorting Squad answers: Yes, you can. But you’ll find that cards aimed at people with poor credit scores have very high interest rates – often above 30% – to reflect the fact you’re a ‘risky’ customer. That said, if you can clear your balance in full every month, you won’t pay any interest. And if you can show that you can use credit sensibly, you’ll start repairing your credit score along the way.
