Author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has been accounced as winner of the PEN Pinter Prize 2018. She will receive the award at a public ceremony at the British Library on the evening of Tuesday 9 October, where she will deliver an address.

PEN Ackerley Prize 2018 - Richard Beard, Maggie O’Farrell & Victoria Whitworth shortlisted

English PEN is pleased to announce the shortlist for the PEN Ackerley Prize 2018 for memoir and autobiography: Richard Beard for The Day That Went Missing (Harvill Secker); Maggie O’Farrell for I Am, I Am, I Am  (Tinder Press); and Victoria Whitworth for Swimming with Seals (Head of Zeus). Chair of judges Parker said that they shortlisted books were 'very different but wholly involving and beautifully written autobiographies.'

The winner of the PEN Ackerely Prize will be announced on Tuesday 10 July 2018, at a special event where the judges and authors will discuss the shortlisted books.

S.A. Smith announced as winner of PEN Hessell-Tiltman Prize 2018 for Russia in Revolution

Chair of judges Joanna Bourke with PEN Hessell-Tiltman Prize 2018 winner SA Smith at the Wimpole History Festival, where the announcement was made.

English PEN is pleased to announce that S.A. Smith has won the PEN Hessell-Tiltman Prize 2018 for his 'mesmerising' Russia in Revolution: An Empire in Crisis, 1890 - 1928 (OUP). Chair of the judges Joanna Bourke said that Smith's book was 'total history at its best: expansive, paying attention to the individual as well as institutional and state actors, even-handed yet reflective on his own position.'
