The 10th anniversary edition of the annual EU Development Days saw everyone from the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to to the Prime Minister of Ethiopia in a rainy Brussels for 48 hours of intense discussions on the future of ODA and innovations in its implementation. High-level debates on inequality, urbanisation and financial 'blending' and leveraging were relieved by a spirited performance in the rain from The Nile Project, and much swapping of ideas and contacts in the world food zone.

Brussels NGOs united in mourning for former colleague Jo Cox

The news of the brutal murder of British MP Jo Cox slowly filtered through the closing ceremony of the Brussels European Development Days conference last night (16 June) – an event which, as a former head of Oxfam, she would have felt entirely at home at.

Blending: The new buzzword at EU’s ‘Davos of Development’

‘Blending’ – a form of pump-priming private sector investment, by leveraging it onto public official development aid – seems to be the new buzzword at this year’s EU Development Days, according to the UN’s Xavier Michon.
