“Politics and economics are concerned with power and wealth, neither of which should be the primary, still less the exclusive, concern of full-grown men and women.”

-- Arthur C. Clarke, Science Fiction Writer

Back in 2011, Alex Green, the long-time investment director at the Oxford Club, wrote a book called Beyond Wealth: The Road Map to a Rich Life.” He made the point that there was much more to life than making money. J. Paul Getty said the same thing in his classic book, How to Be Rich.” The wise investor has interests outside of monetary matters. As the old proverb goes, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

Getty and Green are Renaissance men who had or have broad interests outside of business. Getty loved art, as anyone who has been to the Getty Museum in Los Angeles can attest. Green loves jazz and visits all of the famous jazz joints whenever he goes to New York. He also is an avid reader.

When I went to college, everyone received a “liberal arts” education and was required to take courses outside of their major. I took courses in art, literature and genetics. To this day, I subscribe to a variety of magazines such as Scientific American, Sports Illustrated and Psychology Today.

That’s why FreedomFest, the three-day conference I first organized almost 10 years ago and do so again each year, always offers a lot of sessions that have nothing to do with politics and money. Sure, the majority of speeches, debates and panels are on the hot topics of investing and geo-politics, but I always make sure there are a surprising number of non-traditional topics (dates are July 13-16, at Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas: www.freedomfest.com). For example, this year we have…

Is Your Portfolio Hillary-Proof?

Whether you’re ready for it or not, the shocking truth is that Hillary Clinton could very well become the next President of the United States. One economist has been researching this possibility since she first announced she was running, and his findings have pointed to a fallout that will devastate most individual investors.

But there is a silver lining… this same research also uncovered seven moves you need to make now not only to protect your portfolio, but to profit from a potential Hillary presidency. Click here now to learn which two sectors will be decimated, and which five are set to explode in the event of another President Clinton.

Quantitative Computer Program "Does the Impossible"

It took three full years of back testing on 2,733 stocks, with fewer than 100 making the cut. The shocking results: 93% winners, with an average gain of 207%. What's more, this new program is proven to help investors multiply their returns by a factor of 15.2 -- while cutting risk dramatically.

To see this “impossible” system in action, and how it could hand you $8,774 every month for the rest of the year, simply follow this link.

FreedomFest is so different that most speakers, including Steve Forbes and John Mackey (CEO, Whole Foods Market) attend all three days. They are busy executives, but they take the time to learn, socialize and celebrate liberty. If they take the time, why not you?

Henry David Thoreau warned that “the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.” Don’t let it happen to you. Take some of the hard-earned profits from your investments and come to FreedomFest. It will change your life. I guarantee it.

Air Force Forcibly Removes Veteran After He Mentions God in Flag Ceremony
By Mark Skousen

In April, Sergeant Charles Roberson was retiring from active duty and asked Senior Master Sergeant Oscar Rodriguez to deliver the traditional flag-folding speech for Roberson’s retirement celebration at Travis Air Force Base where Roberson served in the 749th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. The speech frequently thanks God for blessing America.

But when Sergeant Rodriguez began giving the speech, four uniformed airmen surround him, forcibly seize him and roughly drag him out of the room, as he continues shouting out his speech over the heads of his assailants.

You can watch the video proceedings here.

It turns out that in 2005, the Pentagon changed the speech and removed all references to the divine, substituting additional historical facts such as Neil Armstrong’s planting of an American flag on the moon in 1969. But many service members prefer the traditional speech and desire for that version to be given at their own retirement celebrations.

What a sad commentary, especially in the military, which is known for members praying and thanking God, as well as using chaplains to minister to their spiritual needs stateside and overseas. The next thing you know, there could be bans of Kate Smith’s rendition of “God Bless America” from Yankee stadium.

What is this country coming to and where is the leadership?
