Settle down and be cool

The weird "sex switch" that makes women crave a man:
Click To Understand Her "Sex Switch"

Hey Guys—

No one invents stupid terms like the media.  During the lead up to

the British vote to exit the European Union, they invented the term
“Brexit,” then smugly repeated it, acting as if they were so cool.

Most predicted Britain would vote to stay in, and when they voted

to leave, the media was floored.  But so were stock traders and
investors and as soon as the news broke, the markets headed
downward.

There were the usual predictions from powdered pundits, fire and

brimstone, dogs and cats living together, and the end of the world
as we know it.  As usual, the world has not ended, the markets are
recovering, and dogs and cats still do not live together.

Strangely, there was one excellent article about the whole thing

written by Bill Mann of the Motley Fool, and it does an excellent
job of putting things in perspective:

https://www.foolfunds.com/insights/a-word-from-bill-mann-on-brexit/

Essentially he says, take a look at the long term history of the

S & P 500 since 1871, look at everything that’s happened since then,
and look at the long term trend over that time.  As you can see,
it’s going up at a consistent rate.

His advice simply is to “settle down and be cool,” when most people

are panicking in the moment over a tiny bit of news.  Smart traders
are getting rich, panicky investors and traders are peeing away
money.  There is profit in being cool and looking at things in
context, which is why most people never profit.

I see guys doing the same thing with women all the time.  They get

a bit of news which appears bad or life changing in the moment and
they panic.  They are not cool, they fly off the hook, they take
action without thinking and they lose what they have or might have
had.

You have to look at things in perspective and context.  Think back

to all your bad dates, previous girlfriends, phone calls not returned,
flakes on dates, and all other bad news about women—has any of it
really had a cataclysmic affect on your life?

The answer is mostly no, although there will certainly be some yes’s

in there—divorce based on wrong choice of women, inability to
recognize craziness, making decisions based on belief in a fairy
tale, etc.  But even if you look at all of those events, many of
them come from making decisions in the moment instead of being cool,
letting things settle out, then taking action.

I am all for taking fast action, and sometimes you must.  But you

must also learn to recognize situations where NO action is required,
and action will turn something that merely feels bad at the time
into something that is.

So keep the mental image of the S & P 500 in your mind whenever

something that feels bad happens.  It will lend you some perspective,
ground you, and prevent you from doing something stupid while you
think about doing something smart.
