Sean Connery or Roger Moore?

Hey Guys—

When it comes to James Bond movies, there may be a reasonable debate

about the worst actor to play Bond, but there is no debate about the
best—clearly it is Sean Connery.

While I certainly like Connery the best, I was a fan of Roger Moore

too, mainly because he was the one I saw at the movies when I was a
kid, then watched the Connery movies later on.  You might say I
liked Moore, but loved Connery.

A few months ago I was watching a documentary about the James Bond

franchise, and it had a fascinating segment on the differences
between Connery and Moore.

In Moore’s first movie as Bond, he tried to be just like Connery.

Connery had a more “brutal” way with women that worked perfectly
for him—he had the social intelligence to tell when a woman wanted
to be “taken” by a strong man, and physically overwhelmed so she
could surrender to him.

Moore did not have that kind of social intelligence, and in his

first Bond movie, the scene with him trying to do that is a complete
disaster.  So, he switched to what was he unique style—he was a
charmer, a seducer.

To put it another way, Connery ripped a woman’s clothes off, Moore

talked a woman’s clothes off, and once they found their styles,
the scenes with women worked for both of them.

I have met a few guys in real life who could pull off the Connery

style, who could sense when a woman wanted to be physically
overwhelmed.  But guys who don’t have that sense are playing a
very dangerous game when they try that, because they wind up
crossing the line.  You have to know yourself, have to know who
you are.

I, personally, could never pull off the Connery style. You might

say I had too much to lose, and I never had the social intelligence
for it.  But while I will never be mistaken for Roger Moore in his
prime, his way was more my style, the use of words to turn on a
woman’s mind.  This is, certainly, the safer route, even though
there are women who prefer the Connery style.  In this day and age,
that is playing with fire.

The good news is, almost any man can learn to create attraction via

his words, can learn to charm a woman to take off her own clothes
instead of ripping them off.  This is the preferred style in today’s
society, and the one you should focus on—the other way is too risky.

In the end you have to find your own style, one that fits with who

you are.  Roger Moore was not Sean Connery, and never would be.
But when he was Roger Moore, he was still pretty darn good with the
ladies, and that’s certainly good enough. Oh, and for anyone who is
still yawping about Trump’s comments recorded 11 years ago, go and
watch a few of the Sean Connery James Bond movies from the 1960’s.
