Consultation on the Commonwealth Games 2018 (Listed Events)

Ofcom Broadcasting Updates

Ofcom has today published a consultation following a request from the BBC for consent to broadcast exclusive live coverage of the Commonwealth Games 2018. The Games will take place between 4 and 15 April 2018.

Under its plans, the BBC would screen live coverage of the Games on BBC One, BBC Two and their interactive streams, as well as live and delayed commentary on BBC Radio 5 Live. Daily highlights of the Games will be provided by Eurosport.

The Commonwealth Games are a ‘Group B’ Listed Event, so Ofcom’s consent is needed for exclusive live coverage. The broadcasting rules which apply to such events are set out in the Code on Sports and Other Listed and Designated Events.

Ofcom invites broadcasters and other interested parties to comment on this consultation by Wednesday 21 March.

Ymgynghoriad ar Gemau'r Gymanwlad 2018 (Digwyddiadau Rhestredig)

Heddiw mae Ofcom wedi cyhoeddi ymgynghoriad yn dilyn cais gan y BBC am ganiatâd i ddarlledu darpariaeth fyw ecsgliwsif o Gemau’r Gymanwlad 2018. Bydd y Gemau’n cael eu cynnal rhwng 4 ac 15 Ebrill 2018.

Fel rhan o’i gynlluniau, bydd y BBC yn darlledu’n fyw o’r Gemau ar BBC One, BBC Two a’u ffrydiau rhyngweithiol, yn ogystal â sylwebaeth fyw a gohiriedig ar BBC Radio 5 Live. Bydd Eurosport yn darparu uchafbwyntiau dyddiol o'r Gemau.

Mae Gemau’r Gymanwlad yn Ddigwyddiad Rhestredig ‘Grŵp B’, felly mae angen caniatâd Ofcom er mwyn dangos y digwyddiad hwn yn fyw ac yn ecsgliwsif. Mae’r rheolau darlledu sy’n berthnasol i ddigwyddiadau o’r fath wedi’u nodi yn y Cod ar Chwaraeon a digwyddiadau a digwyddiadau dynoedig eraill.

Mae Ofcom yn gwahodd darlledwyr ac unrhyw bartïon eraill sydd â diddordeb i ymateb i’r ymgynghoriad hwn erbyn Dydd Mercher, 21 Mawrth.
