CONDE NAST'S ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST RAISES MONEY TO BUILD HOMES IN HAITI
Architectural Digest is partnering with San Francisco-based nonprofit start-up New Story to build a 100-home village in Haiti. On Monday, the Condé Nast shelter title hosted a breakfast at The Guild, the new restaurant/home goods store from interior design duo Roman & Williams in New York’s Lower Manhattan, to promote the initiative.

INSTAGRAM STAYING MUM ON RUMORED VIDEO CALLING FEATURE
Instagram copied the ‘Snap’ and now it might be going after the ‘chat’. A video calling feature was spotted in a non-public version of Instagram by WhatsApp industry blog WABetaInfo. It would let users who’ve begun an Instagram Direct message thread to video chat with each other. 

NEWSWEEK SUSPENDS EDITOR 
A top editor at Newsweek Media Group was suspended on Monday after a report surfaced that he was fired from his old job at Reuters after allegedly pressuring a young female reporter to have sex with him over many months.

FACEBOOK IS PUSHING MORE LOCAL NEWS INTO YOUR NEWSFEED
The change means that people who follow a local news publication will see more stories from that publication — and that people who don’t follow a local news outlet will see more from local publications, too, if people in their network are sharing a particular story.

Bloomberg Media wants to build stronger bonds with its audience across devices in 2018, so it’s hired its first digital head of product in Julia Beizer, formerly of The Washington Post and HuffPost.

Jim Kirk, the Los Angeles Times' newly installed editor in chief, on Monday sought to soothe a newsroom roiled by months of turmoil — a unionization campaign by staff members, distrust about the motives of corporate leaders and a revolving door in management.

CHICAGO SUN TIMES SUSPENDS FILM CRITIC RICHARD ROEPER OVER FAKE TWITTER FOLLOWERS
Roeper was one several prominent journalists, sports stars, politicians and celebrities who had paid to increase their Twitter followers with fake accounts, according to a New York Times report published over the weekend. Roeper's Twitter following currently numbers over 225,000, but it was not specified by the Times report how many of those followers were fake. 

NETFLIX TO ACCESS NEW CUSTOMERS BY JOINING ALTICE SET-TOP BOX
Altice USA said that Netflix is now available through its new set-top box, the latest U.S. cable operator to form an alliance with the streaming service. Such partnerships help Netflix add customers as its growth matures in the United States.

NBC WILL AIR SHOWS FROM BUZZFEED AND COMPLEX BEFORE THE SUPERBOWL
NBC Sports plans to air original episodes of BuzzFeed’s “Worth It” and Complex Networks’ “Hot Ones” on TV, as part of the company’s broad video game plan leading into the Super Bowl. For NBC’s Super Bowl coverage — the game will air on NBC’s broadcast network on Feb. 4 — NBC Sports commissioned new episodes of “Hot Ones,” a video interview series from Complex Networks’ First We Feast food site, and “Worth It,” a food and travel show from BuzzFeed.

Later this year, Ars Technica will turn 20 years old. Today, the website is asking readers to consider supporting Ars Technica by becoming a subscriber. The Conde Nast-owned site has made some changes to the program in 2018, including lowering prices and “adding more goodies.”
