Etsy Is Lowkey the Best Place to Buy Jewelry Online

Statement jewelry has been all over the place for decades, but here’s the thing about making a statement: When the 12th person on your Instagram feed makes the same one, the shine wears off. Naturally, the hunt for untapped, under-the-radar brands follows, and there’s arguably no better place to find them than on Etsy.

To date, the online marketplace has 1.8 million active shops (!!) and more than 45 million items for sale; inside those numbers, jewelry claims a pretty big space. You’ll find shops old and new offering everything from newly handcrafted to vintage to made-to-order pieces from all over the world.

While so many options means a greater chance of finding something you like, the thought of sifting through endless pages of items can (and will) feel overwhelming. So in an effort to make things easier, we’ve sorted through the masses to bring you a list of our favorite Etsy shops for jewelry right now, all guaranteed to have people asking where you got your new earrings, bracelet, or necklace. RockSalt Vintage: “My goal is to create a piece that is unique yet simple and comfortable to wear everyday,” says RockSalt Vintage founder Katelin Reeser. That vision comes together by merging both “found” and vintage materials into really gorgeous, minimal pieces. You’ll find a lot of metal bending and shaping — as seen in these line-drawn boob earrings ($60) and these wavy oval hoops ($80) — that sets the line apart from your everyday “minimal” jewelry.

Persephone Vintage: While you can shop a lot more than jewelry from this vintage seller, Persephone Vintage’s selection of bold earrings, necklaces, and bracelets are arguably the star of the show. The inventory straddles different time periods, but most of what you’ll find are really playful pieces from the 1980s, like these oversized dangle hoops ($115) and these geometric square earrings ($49).

Depeapa: Depeapa’s name comes from the Spanish expression de pe a pa, meaning “from A to Z” or “from beginning to end,” which is fitting considering the shop offers everything from necklaces to notebooks. The jewelry, which generally runs around $20–$30, is light-hearted and quirky; expect lots of pastel-painted clay and wooden shapes, copper tubing, and brass beads strung together on contrasting leather and cotton cords.

Lingua Nigra: This black woman-owned Brooklyn-based line comes from founder Alicia G.’s love for metal and the way it takes on different textures and shapes. You’ll find some truly great pieces for even greater prices — with most floating under the $100 mark — that make for perfect everyday wear, whether you’re looking for rings, bracelets, necklaces, simple studs, or busy drop earrings.

Liz Lau Studio: This shop is seriously so fun. Each piece — whether it’s mini acrylic versions of body parts and fruit or something more sculptural — is wildly quirky and animated, and at such a good price point (generally everything falls under $50), it would make the perfect gift for anyone, especially your artsy friends.

By Lía: If you’ve ever wondered about the mysteriously untagged minimal delicate jewelry in your favorite bloggers’ Instagram posts, you’ll love the selection in this shop. It’s simple, trendy, and largely affordable, with most pieces — including this gold circle choker ($32) and these small hoops ($22) — under $50.

Yuka: The designer behind Yuka has a background in architecture, and the sculptural pieces throughout the collection reflect that. From asymmetric earrings ($80) to geometric designs like these square earrings ($30), shapes and symmetry are common themes throughout, as are as stones like lapis, quartz crystal, and jade.

Benu Made: This Prague-based jewelry line combines shiny metallics, bold shapes, and leather textures to result in some of the most playful, stand-out pieces on this list. Highlights include these Matisse-inspired gold leather and leaf cut-out earrings ($38), as well as the abstract pendant necklaces ($42).

AgJc: This minimal Parisian brand, which takes the geometric trend and runs with it, introduces shapes and silhouettes in combinations that feel really fresh and original. Spotlight on these matte sterling silver earrings ($59) and this gorgeous stacking ring set ($110).

Gouttedeterre: At first glance, the pieces in this shop read as decades-old heirloom treasures. But in fact, the jewelry here is all thoughtfully handmade one-of-a-kind porcelain. Prices range from $26 for small pieces like these glazed gold studs to upwards of $225 for more intricate items like this black-and-gold painted necklace.

Atlanta Marie: Turns out Etsy is a surprisingly great place to shop for bridal jewelry, too, and Atlanta Marie is a prime example. The shop stocks gorgeous diamonds, simple bands, and even some special vintage pieces. A huge price range is covered; stacking bangles start at just $25, but diamond rings can go as high as $7,500 for something like this 18k rose gold engagement ring, and even higher for custom pieces.

EVERLANE, COMING TO A NORDSTROM NEAR YOU
Everlane

Things are moving fast over at Everlane, the fashion startup known for high-quality basics that’s seen as a J.Crew competitor. Over the summer, Racked reported the company was opening its first permanent store in San Francisco this fall; the brand also just launched denim.

Now the company is going after its very first wholesale partnership by inking a deal with Nordstrom. From September 29th through November 12th, Everlane will be available in department store locations in California (Los Angeles and Costa Mesa), Washington (Seattle and Bellevue), Canada (Vancouver and Toronto), Dallas, and Chicago, and also on the Nordstrom site. The partnership is part of Pop-In@Nordstrom, a shop-in-shop initiative of Olivia Kim’s, Nordstrom’s vice president of creative projects. Pop-In@Nordstrom has previously featured Goop, Opening Ceremony, and Alexander Wang.

This relationship is symbiotic. The venture-backed Everlane is looking to expand, and working with Nordstrom is an easy way to get in front of new shoppers without having to invest in more of its own stores. Although Nordstrom’s digital sales are up, its foot traffic and in-store sales are declining; the company has been vocal about wanting to breathe life into the department store space, so linking up with a digital-first brand like Everlane makes sense.

Though the shops will only be open for six weeks, it’s possible Nordstrom will end up carrying Everlane longterm, in the vein of its Bonobos and Draper James deals. And even if it doesn’t, this sends yet another signal that Nordstrom is trying to find its own way to entice shoppers instead of choosing to forge a relationship with retail’s most-hated player, like some other struggling department stores.
