Churchill Productions present
PEOPLE by Alan Bennett
Thursday 23rd - Saturday 25th March 7.30pm
Matinee Saturday 25th March 2.30pm

Churchill Productions present People by Alan Bennett. Directed by Pete Talman.

People spoil things; there are so many of them and the last thing one wants is them traipsing through one's house. But with the park a jungle and a bath on the billiard table, what is one to do? Dorothy wonders if an attic sale could be a solution.
After centuries a traditional family estate lies in a state of disrepair; desperately requiring financing to keep the once grand residence restored and maintained. Lady Dorothy, our world-weary, beleaguered central character, would rather sell off the contents of the house or even allow explicit films to shoot at the residence in order to save the property from the grips of the National Trust. However her rather more proper sister wholeheartedly disagrees. This central conflict enables Bennett to examine the philosophical and ethical dilemmas of restoration, in an age of rapant public consumption, with hilarious and touching results.
People premiered at the National Theatre, London, in October 2012.

Tickets £12 evening, £10.50 matinee, 1/10 free all performances

STEVE KNIGHTLEY
Saturday 24th June 2017 7.30pm

Steve Knightley: ‘Landlocked’ Tour 2017. In 2014 ‘Show of Hands’ acclaimed frontman Steve Knightley set out on a mission to play 150 village halls and ‘untapped’ grassroots community venues. His hugely successful ‘Grow Your Own Gig’ tour saw him performing at a bedrock of intimate rural venues, drawing on his treasure trove of songs of the English countryside. Then in 2015 he turned his attention from the land to the sea for his ‘All At Sea’ tour of maritime venues – all within sight and sound of the tide. Songs from both shows were recorded and two albums, ‘Off the beaten Track’ and ‘All at Sea’ emerged. In 2017 he will be combining material from both recordings for his solo ‘Landlocked’ tour. One half of the evening will feature original and traditional songs of the land and the second half will draw on his nautical themes. Knightley, who won the Best Original Song category at the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for his biting, banker-baiting Arrogance, Ignorance and Greed, has been rated as “one of England’s greatest singer songwriters” and has a prolific back catalogue of inspired songs including the rousing Country Life (about the demise of rural living) to Tall Ships (set in a West Country fishing village) and Roots and crowd pleasers like Santiago and his Cornish miners’ song Cousin Jack

BOOTLEG BLONDIE
Friday 22nd September 2017 7.30pm

BOOTLEG BLONDIE is the Official Deborah Harry & Blondie tribute band and the only Blondie tribute to play at the legendary CBGBs in New York City before it’s sad closure in 2006. CBGBs was the Holy Grail of American Punk and New Wave, where the real Blondie first kicked off their career.
The Bootlegs have also played the Isle Of Wight Festival, the 100 Club & Hammersmith Palais in London, Eric’s in Liverpool and appear regularly at many top venues and festivals around the UK and Europe.
Debbie Harris, lead vocalist of Bootleg Blondie, has the looks, the voice and the attitude of the original Blondie bombshell and like her heroine is typically outrageous on stage.
