Health Tech Company Wellinks Raises $265K


Wellinks, a wearable health technology company founded by three Yale students, recently raised $265,000 in funding from sources including Connecticut Innovations, the New England Pediatric Device Consortium and angel investors. The company has made promising progress on their patent-pending brace-monitoring device and related app, which are initially being developed for scoliosis patients. The startup is actively pursuing expansion into knee braces, walking boots and other markets. Read more here!

YEI Launches New Entrepreneurship Internship Program

The Yale Innovation and Entrepreneurship Internship Program launched on December 15, 2015. It represents a new partnership between the Yale Entrepreneurial Institute (YEI) and Office of Career Services (OCS)--a pathway designed to connect entrepreneurial firms and startups with qualified and enthusiastic Yale students for a summer internship experience centered around entrepreneurship or intrapreneurship. The goal of the program is to enrich the career opportunities of Yale students, and to give employers streamlined access to motivated Yale students interested in marketing, technology, business development or venture capital. Social Consciousness and Financial Reality


Last week, YEI hosted a social entrepreneurship discussion with Patrick Struebi, YEI’s resident social entrepreneur, and Drew Ruben (‘11), founder of Blue State Coffee. The conversation moved from a five-point social impact action plan to fighting the pressure to take a “safe” job. During the talk, Patrick and Drew spoke about the biggest challenges they’ve faced.
