Coral Vita Receives $72K from WeWork Creator Awards
The Yale startup Coral Vita, which launched from a 2015 YEI Fellowship, took home a $72,000 award from WeWork's Creator Awards launch in DC, part of an initiative in which the company will award $20M to entrepreneurs over a year. Coral Vita is a nonprofit founded by two Yale School of Forestry alums that aims to grow corals for restoring failing reefs.

April 5 Bioscience ClubhouseCT Event to Feature Yale Nanoparticle Innovators
A Yale/CURE event on Wed., April 5 will feature Yale researchers who are advancing a proprietary platform in suncare innovation and cancer therapy. Yale Biomedical and Chemical Engineering Professor Mark Saltzman and Linda Fong, a PhD candidate at Yale, will discuss their startup straDEFY which is developing a stronger, safer nanoparticle-based suncreen.

Saphlux Founder Chen Chen (SOM ’16) Receives $5 Million in Funding
Saphlux, a startup co-founded by Chen Chen (SOM ’16), recently received a $5 million infusion from companies eager to invest in its promising new LED technology. The lead investor in this latest Saphlux funding round is Leyard (Hong Kong), a $4 billion company that specializes in outdoor LED display.

Sat., April 15: Application Deadline for the Grace Hopper Prize. Want a chance at a $1,000 prize pool? Submit a software project to the Yale Computer Society's first annual Grace Hopper Prize. Projects will be judged by a panel of Yale alumni entrepreneurs and Yale Computer Science professors with projects evaluated based upon their technological ingenuity, grace of design, completion and level of difficulty. Fri., April 21: Application Deadline for Yale Innovation Summit Poster Session & Pitchoffs. The Yale Innovation Summit on May 10 at Yale School of Management is the largest gathering of innovators and investors at Yale. Yale researchers are invited to apply to present as part of the poster session which will be displayed on electronic posters throughout the event and attract investors for conversation. Poster applicants interested in starting a company will also be considered to present during the Summit's Biotech or Tech Pitchoffs which includes broad exposure to investor attendees and the opportunity to win cash awards.
